Yeah, unfortunately so.

I was on my uni placement in Germany at the time and despite my protestations (they didn't really get the whole Gravesend and Northfleet thing!), they said I had to be back at work after the xmas break for the Monday morning.

This meant leaving Harwich at 3pm for Hamburg.

I had a radio with me which lost reception about ten minutes into the voyage.

To say I was not happy would be an understatement. I headed straight to the bar!

Didn't find out the result until the next evening.

i still got the programme.

My son was 10 at the time. We made a scrap book with press cuttings from the Colchester game, both matches with plucky (yuk) Cinderford and of course the big day plus programmes, tickets etc. Didn't realise it was 10 years ago. Seems like yesterday. 16/12/95's hosting of Stafford was my first Fleet game and the second was 1/1/96's victory over Crawley. Throughout the game a chant of "If you're all going to Villa, clap your hands" broke out. For some reason I didn't go, (apparently I was "too young") so I didn't join in. The person who came with me, Gary, said "clap anyway!"

I remember my mum's boyfriend saying to me "So, Darren, how many do you think Villa will put past the Fleet?" Being young and naive, I said "7, maybe 8?"

Hmmm.

Despite only ever seeing the footage of the goals once or twice on Match of the Day, I can still picture Savo Milosevic spanking the ball home fiercely.

I spoke to a Villa fan the other day who seems to remember the day despite only being about 8 at the time. He said that the Fleet fans "made a lot of noise."

It's a bit annoying missing the game, but hopefully we'll draw someone big sometime soon.

Agreed definate pen. Southgate took Micky Cotter out but cos it was the first minute and we were a slightly smaller club we were never going to get it. Must admit I had a few tears that day as well <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bawling.gif" alt="" />

The 2nd replay against Marlow at home was my first ever Fleet game, been hooked ever since. I was 9 at the time. I still have my Villa programme and tickets, both Cinderford ones, the Colchester video and programme and the Marlow one. One of my best ever fleet experiences. Do i remember rightly...Was is Dave Powell who hit a fierce shot that looked like it was going in and Bosnich pulled off a really good save(or is that just my imagination?).
