If we want to change at Long Eaton (not that it makes too much difference as we'll only be getting on the same train to Tamworth just the stop before Derby)

The Midland Mainline arrives at 1144 and the Tamworth train departs at 1150

Note the service from Derby arrives at 1200 and departs at 1208

Sticky please!!!!!

Hi EFMTFTV.

If the train is on time upon arrival at Long Eaton, I would disembark and catch the 11.50. It would be very frustrating to wait outside Derby station due to 'leaves on the line' or something, and see the Tamworth train pass by.

Whaddyathink?

Zealster. Moi.

Ah Rob.

The train journey to Birmingham from Watford is an enlightening experience. Not so much the journey, but rather the logistics of the journey.

Do you want me to tell you? O.K. I'll tell you.

The man with the machine thing on the Abbey Flyer looks at you as if you are a Martian when you try to buy a ticket to Birmingham New Street, and no wonder. He sold me a return to Watford, and suggested that I should enquire at the ticket office. The lady there said "Virgin or Silverlink". I was tempted to give an inapproptiate answer and ask her the same question, but, instead, I said "What's the difference?" She replied "About £57".

The return on Virgin is about £70, and the Silverlink was £13.39, or thereabouts. I thought of Thornsy and bought the cheaper one. Once on the train, I had a momentary panic that the 'catch' would be that the return train only ran every second Thursday, but no. I arrived there and returned faster than the Virgin equivalent, despite stopping about four times.

How can they work that out? Thornsy clearly works for nothing!

In eight years at SACFC, the only incident worthy of a prison sentence was the vicious, unprovoked assault on two of our fans by Rob Smith and Derek Brown.

If that had happened in a pub, as opposed to the propaganda palace that is our clubhouse, they'd both be up before the beak.

Unfortunately, it was swept under the carpet by John Gibson and Steve Castle.

Not sure your teacher would be happy for you to come on the train with him, better do the coach!

The National Rail website shows the way via Derby as the best and I aggree, too many parts of the WCML close at the weekends and the connections between city and watford are irregualar and Virgin are a rip off unlesss you buy ages in advance when they are fantastic value!
