You don't really expect people to name a balanced side do you?

Definatly not, player of the season so far, id play him in front of Magona or Negus.
I think him marauding forward is one of the most exciting players since we had Ian Cooper at the club.
I would also play Niall Ritchie on the other flank in front of Campbell.
Indeed with the Negus/Woodward & Campbell/Ritchie combinations both pairings could indeed overlap when needed.

Its amazing the different view you have of the game from the side to the one behind the goal.

Woodward rarely overlaps and Negus is better at drifting inside. Campbell and Ritchie play the same sort of game. Your combination reminds me of the time I saw John Barnes play his last game for England and we played with two wingers who never saw the ball.

You have also not considered Valendia, Baldwin and as Diver suggests what about Rudi Hall?

I really am pleased that you are not the manager!

Woodward rarely overlaps???

I know it was dark on Monday Steph, but from where i was standing,Woodwrad spent the whole game do just that.He certainly overlapped more than i've seen any full-back do for a long time.

With Negus cutting inside,it would give Woodward more room TO overlap.Morgan plays so wide that its difficult to overlap him.

I wouldn't have Magona or Morgan in my starting 11 at present.Magona would be my first choice cover for lots of positions, so would be a real asset on the bench.Morgan is a great player, but i don't feel he's totally match fit at present, and he's not quite on top of his form.

Velendia and Rudi are both excellent midfielders, but ideally they need Penn to partner one, or both of them.If Penn is needed at the back, then maybe Baldwin could be the man to partner them.

Ritchie deserves to be in the team at present,on current form alone.Stephens looks useful as well, but the full-back competition is fiece at the moment.

Woodward and Baldwin down the left for me. They can both defend and both push forward so are able to cover for each other. The new guy at right back looks good and strong but leaves us exposed when he pushes forward. Thus, keep him defending and put someone such as Negus right of midfield with more of an attacking remit. Penn and Gant at the back, Rudi and Velandia in the middle and then you have a choice up front that no one seems to have worked out yet. I would like to see Smith and Stephens given a go.

Only problem you then have is in goal. Do you go for the old boy Chopper who seems to be on the verge of retirement (I hear he gets his bus pass next week!!!!!) or do you go for Ken (who's great at kicking for touch!)!!!!!

so let's imagine that you lot get to choose the team; for one game; how long would it take you to come to agreement? now imagine the fun Jim, Phil and Pete must have !!

I am glad that JC is the manager and despite us all being able to pick a better team the results speak for themselves.

I agree. However, footie is all about opinions and it's great entertainment to have them. As a football manager you need a thick skin to stand by your own opinions and succeed or fail by them. At present, Jim is succeeding and good bl**dy luck to him. Still think Baldwin should play more though SO THERE!

What about Stephens at centre half? He looks like he's got the height and pace to me. That would also allow someone with better distribution to play at right back, and keep Russell in midfield.

With Rudi's suspension to come [and Russell can only be one booking off his first] there will be opportunities for others to stake their claims.

Having seen all of the current first team squad play in the last three games, I'm no nearer understanding who the best starting eleven are. What I do think, however, is that there are probably three players who shouldn't be in it and that two of those probably shouldn't feature as first choices [ie in the sixteen] on matchdays.

This is surely a Good Thing. We have plenty of cover for injuries, suspensions, unavailabilty and so on, plus competition for places. Obviously the trick is to blend the whole squad so the players recognise each other and gel as a team on the pitch.

Who needs Mourinho, when we've got JC....................

I only named a back four Steph, the question was then asked about woody, I then said I would play him left midfield allowing him the freedom to get forward & overlap with either Negus or Magona.
On the other side I would play Ritchie in front of Campbell.
Rudi & Penn would definatly play in the middle.
Rudi playing the attacking role while Penn the defensive role.
As for the forwards I have no preference (not overawed by any of them to be honest) but I would like to see those on a good run of form be allowed to stake a place for more than a regular place on the bench!!!

The only predicament I have is for Valandia, whenever ive seen him play he has been quality, so does he start? if so in place of whom?

Maybe up front!

Good this managerial lark aint it!!

Oh & Steph if you think Woody does not overlap & get forward what was he doing Monday?
With impaired vision like that I'M glad your not manager!!
