Interesting to see whilst looking at the league table, that Town have an identical home record to that of Great Wakering Rovers,who are fifth from bottom.

Against F and W we had a free kick just outside the box and every single F and W player was in the penalty area. We were left with our usual 4-5 defenders behind the ball defending ...............space.

 

Away from home there would not have been 11 players in the box.

 

We have to change our methods at home and be prepared to get in the box with more players. F & W would have been happy with a draw as that is what they came for. If teams came to the stadium for a win we would be winning more games but they dont and so we wont.

Your right there Steph, although I think you should change tactics and play more possesion rather than rush about trying to force the game.

 

It's after all 90 min's so the players need to calm down and take a more considered approach.

 

I mean if you play against the bottom side at home and lose 2-0 as you did, the same result against Boringwood. Then something is wrong, and I think it's a psycological thing, pressure if you like.

You need to soak up the pressure the opposition imposes and just take once or two good chances to take the points.

Also you need two regular centre halfs + someone at the back with a voice.

You cant hear any communications between the back line.

Having said all that you arent doing too bad for an old ESL outfit in your first year. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

Isn't it true to say that Town have only lost one game [berko] to a team that started the day below us in the league?

I accept the considered approach but even at home we do tend to be on the back foot in the early stages.

 

Jim will have the stats but we have not scored many goals in the first quarter of an hour home and away. Wakering we scored early and then they had to come out - confidence rose and we got a hat full.

 

Agree whole heartedly about a settled centre halfs - on current form it should be Russell and Gant - Russell has the voice and experience to take more responsibility for leading the back line.

 

I think that Graham has been a loyal stalwart for the club but now age is beginning to catch up with him and injuries come and take a long time to recover. I really think that it was a sad day for the club when Bradley left.

I thought Dave Allen had a great start to the season as a one of the centre-backs.His pace was definately a bonus.Penn is very good at the back, but who will win the headers in midfield (Balwdin maybe?)

In the first 15 minutes we have scored 7 goals (home and away) out of 61.

 

In the last 15 minutes we have scored 17.....

Too much annalysing and too many stats mentioned but if you can hit the nail on the head and get a winning run at home you could find yourselfs promoted if not champs come the end of the season so good luck hope it works out for you <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

I would like to see Woodward and Negus link-up on the left.Thats never happened yet this season.

No I think you need Penn in the midfield.

He distributes better than most of the others aswell as winning headers.

No you definately need someone with height and pace at the back.

It's a shame Jonathan Stevenson or Stephenson left.

I know people say he used to wander but thats only because of inexperience, and why you need a voice that even those players like him can hear and listen to.

Definatly not, player of the season so far, id play him in front of Magona or Negus.

I think him marauding forward is one of the most exciting players since we had Ian Cooper at the club.

I would also play Niall Ritchie on the other flank in front of Campbell.

Indeed with the Negus/Woodward & Campbell/Ritchie combinations both pairings could indeed overlap when needed.

You still wont have height at the back and unless you can start to make the opposition play the ball on the floor then you'll need someone to meet the high balls ( so to speak )
