It seems that the errant one is now back in the UK and very contrite. He thought he was going for a trial.

As things stand he cannot play in England now until next season, but my sources tell me he is going to write to the FA and tell them it was all a mistake.

Well, according to RK this morning, if he doesnt get his international clearance to play for St Patricks, he will probably be left without a club this season, as you can only apply for international clearance once per season, and he couldnt therefore return to us, as he would need to apply again !!

If this is true then we won't see him back.

You have to wonder what sort of advice his agent gave him, to jump ship at Fleet just for a trial at an Irish club. The fact that he is now back in England without a club to play for serves him right for doing a disappearing act in the first place.

You can guarantee that come June he will be parading himself around all the div 3 and Conf clubs again, but after what he has done on this occasion, will anyone take a gamble on him? Unfortunately, there will always be a club or two that would.

The interesting point about this development in proceedings now is; If the FA accept his reasons and grant him permission to play in England again this season, would he (a) attempt to return to the Fleet, and (B) would Andy want him after what has gone on? Personally, I believe the answer to be no on both counts.

I agree. I think that we could do with Tostao back for his ability and added dimension to the fleet line-up but, fitting in with the excellent team spirit was not his game when he left and I feel sure he would not be welcome for this. I don’t know, pure ideas. Up the fleet and a win against F'Boro should get us back on track with all these injuries.

I know we are only talking hyperthetically, but if he did attempt to return to the Fleet, then I think he should be given a chance, should we not forgive him this mistake, Im sure we would once he started setting up goals and skinning people on the right wing. Football fans have very short memories.

I must have grown 3" since last time you see me (i am 5'4") But it has bugger all to do with my own right wing endeavours. He is a class act and I feel that the decision to leave was mainly down to an agent. Should we not forgive?

Bring on the Farnborough, thats what I say and let Andy do the business. If you read his managers post he says he may have a replacement (its not you is it!!!???). Yeh i have forgiven already, i never said he was wrong really. Just unlucky with contracts etc.

Well things REALLY have become a little confused!

Speaking personally, I would be very pleased to see him return. On the few occasions that I spoke to him, I found him to be a very polite, pleasant and (believe it or not) honest sort of guy. Remember, it is quite likely he has been given some bad advice. If thats the case then he can hardly be blamed for his actions, including the manner in which he left.

It would be a real shame if his career has gone up in smoke, albeit just for a season.

Lets give the guy a chance.

I don't know the whys and wherefores, but he is definitely back in the UK and definitely contacting the FA about his international clearance.

From what I have been able to glean, the whole affair has been completly mismanaged and neither Tostao nor St Patrick's come out of this looking good.
