Tostao Kwashi

Following on from Matt's point, I now have a little more information that you may find interesting.

Tostao is/was in the UK as a full-time student and his time in the UK will expire when his course finishes around the end of next season. However under UK law a full-time student cannot be offered a contract as an entertainer, and a professional footballer is classed as an entertainer. This law does not apply in Ireland which is why St Patrick's can sign him on a contract and we couldn't.

Also, because of the transfer window, he would not have been able to sign for any other English Club at Conference level or above until the opening of the next transfer window in January.

Ireland seem to have a different set of dates so again this does not stop him signing over there.

So as you can see, nobody took their eye off the ball here on Visa's, Contracts or anything else that the club had any form of control over. What we could do nothing about is the player himself deciding to up and leave to another country.

If he's in full time education in/around London , how can he go and live in Ireland ?

Presumably he's quit the course .

With reference to earlier comment when Macca, the Jimmys and Bentley are all fit , this would be our best midfield behind Che and Liam (?)

Looking at the fixture list on the St Patricks Athletic website it seems that Toss will make his debut on the 9th Nov against , er , St Patricks Athletic .

Now have you heard the one about the Irish football team ...

In Dublins fair city, where Euros are pretty,

It was too much to turn down for sweet Tostao Kwashi,

with his fitness of a Para,

and he's crosses like an arrow,

eating cockels and mussels from Sammy Seahsell

Tostao Kwashi -

Fond Memories of the goal he set up against Canvey in the friendly, and the celebration afterwards !!

In fact all Tossers goal celebrations were a bit special.

A great player and a joy to watch - We don't get too many internationals gracing the turf at Stonebridge Road , so it was a privilege to have him on board, even if it was only for a brief time.

But lets not forget , that he was also at the top end ( if not top) of the wage bracket at the Fleet, so lets not get too down about this. It may give Andy a bit of room to manouvere and bring others into the squad.

Also with a fully fit squad its questionable whether Tos' would have made the starting line up anyway , with Jacko, Bentley, McKimm, Strouts, Owen, Barr and lets not forget Danny Lye all trying to get into the midfield quartet.

( But with the injuries at the moment, he was a guaranteed starter)

so heres to Tostao and the Fleet - Both onwards and upwards..

I can confirm that, after consultation with my back benchers, that the said Mr Kwashi is the only man living in Kent that requires a work permit.

And, in accordance with our party's manifesto, we were of the opinion that he was too good to play for Gravesend......hence his assisted passage (?) to the Emerald Isle. However, I am aware that this may seem unfair to the average Gravesend fan, therefore I am willing to correct the balance and would advise that my Honourable friend Gerald Adams will be available to play centre forward during Parliamentary recess.

Yours,

Tony.

I too, would just like to take this opportunity to thank Tostao for some terrific memories, albeit from too brief a spell with the club. All the best for the future.

Given the apparent circumstances, it's unreasonable to blame Tostao for his decision and, perhaps, this is just another example of the problems facing a club of our size playing at this level.

Nevertheless, Gravesend are not a one-man team and, once the current injury crisis eases, I am sure we will prove how good we are, with a strong finish to our first season back at this level, because from what we've seen so far, the lads have proved they are easily good enough to compete in the Conference.

Everyone's behind you Andy, keep up the good work.

Now that things have calmed down a bit, I can put my personal opinion.

Like the other posters, I don't have a problem with TK bettering himself, and I have enjoyed watching him this season, But.............

I'm not overly happy with how he went about it, as Alan said TK was always going on about "teamwork". I would have thought that teamwork means a little more than leaving a message on the manager's voice-mail telling him that he was off to Ireland. He must have known about this for a couple of days, and surely the decent thing would have been to see Andy (or Brian) and tell them face to face, "look I've got this chance to play at a higher level in Ireland, and I don't think I should let it pass me by"

The club would never have attempted to stand in his way, and he would at least then been able to come back with his held held high if it doesn't work out over there. Now, I'm not sure I would be keen to see him back in a Fleet shirt.

As I said, just my personal opinion.

Well, according to RK this morning, if he doesnt get his international clearance to play for St Patricks, he will probably be left without a club this season, as you can only apply for international clearance once per season, and he couldnt therefore return to us, as he would need to apply again !!

Just hope for his sake that he's got all this agreed otherwise he'll end up with egg all over his face.

Been offline for a couple of days.....

.....damn! blast! bugger! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Unloyal two-faced git - BEFORE PEOPLE CRITICISE : it was very underhand just to leave a message on an answerphone - the gutless little runt could have at least seen the club face to face to explain the 'events' so to speak.

I dare say his agent Fash 'The Bash' was behind this.

Inconsolable.....

.....the next month looks pretty bleak, with all the injuries, suspensions and now this.

I did not post yesterday as I was so cross, and disappointed.

I like everyone can understand players wanting to do better, etc etc.

But with the current situation, with some many injuries, he more than anyone will understand what sort of position this leaves the other players and the Club in .

So because we lost against Margate, do we all go and watch someone else, it does seem that loyalty spreads very thin with some players.

I have enjoyed watching Tostao, but lets hope no Club does to him what he has done to us, and just dumps him , like Daz I suspect his so called agent may have had something to do with this, always chasing the fast buck.

Still I shalle see all you faithfull that can make it at Halifax on Saturday we have a full coach, to support whoever Andy has to choose from.

I heard that web-site Dave plays a nifty centre-half. and as for Super Daz. WELL!!!!

I did offer to give up the fags in exchange for getting The Fleet some goals!

What works against me is what I would have done to THAT linesman on Saturday if I had been anywhere near the pitch

Quite simple really!

That would have meant telling every manager who might have been interested that he was available. That's not the sort of information that we tend to broadcast.
