Todays Referee

Recommended Posts

As seems usual these days, he made some strange decisions (and in onecase, non decision) - in particular, his generosity led to our 1st goal - how on earth he thought Johnsons awful cross had clipped a Daggers player, I'll never know.

On our free kick goal, the Daggers players can have been no more than 5 or 6 yards from the ball at most, and the ref made no effort to correct this - it was only justice really that Bradley's shot flew past Roberts.

The non decision, of course, related to the Skinner incident in the 1st half - I know it was all basically handbags and it would have been difficult to single out any individual player for a card, but surely he could at least have called the captains together and suggested things calm down a bit, if nothing else?

The one thing he got right in my view was Macca's card - the forward seemed to be angling away from goal rather than towards it and that, I believe, makes it a yellow and not a red card.

Still, good to see a decision going in our favour for once, I guess.

And I actually thought we played some reasonable stuff after they scored, and were the better side for the last half hour.

Mind you, it says much that all 3 goals came from dead balls and I only recall Craig having 2 shots to save from open play (both good saves as the ball came through a crowd incidentally) and Roberts only 1.

He seemed to just give nothing if he didn't know what to do.

Certainly the first half melee could easily have seen 1 from each side dismissed (Skins and Uddin) as well as numerous bookings (Leberl, Bruce, Coleman).

He was poor to both sides so you can't really complain.
