A thoroughly entertaining game. Thought the referee was slow to get on top of the game, but generallly ensured the game kept some consistency. Only luck stoped Bishop Stortford from being beat at least 5-1, but good to see city with two very good wingers who kept on getting behind the stortford defence.

I estimated that there was almost 200 city fans at the game, dont know what everyone else thought.

Looking forward to playing Welling on saturday after todays great performance.

All over them first half after they scored a rather fortuitous early goal. Couldn't buy a goal after that, Simon had two headers just wide and Walshey hit the post from a free-kick.

Totally different story second half, class finish from Clarkey for his 3rd in three games, Cracknell headed home against his old club and Matt Hann headed in at the near post from a Walshe corner (I think).

Great travelling support again, about 150 from our fair City.

Well done to Colin and Nick for maximum points over the festive season. And to Gibbo, as funds have clearly been made available for Colin to put together the biggest and best squad since taking over the reins from that other bloke. Five subs of quality and two more, injured, not named on the team sheet. That's a first.

For a variety of reasons yesterday was the first game that I have seen in 4 and, for me it was a fascinating study. I believe that every player should come off with a personal minimum score of 7/10. We dominated the first half and could have had 4 or 5 goals but, for me, 10 players scored 7/10 [and no more], and one scored 6. How did we dominate that half? How were the chances created and where did the danger really come from?

[in the] second half, we scored 2 in the first 10 minutes, each a goal of quality coming from half a dozen or more one touch passes, starting from 35 yards out. Clinical, classy stuff. And we had the boot on the Stortford throat with a hatful of goals to come.

I don't know anything about football, and I wouldn't dream of criticising the guv'nor, but I was very surprised that, after the second goal, Lee Clarke immediately retreated to a deeper role in front of the midfield, clearly on instructions from the dug-out, and as a result, Stortford were given the opportunity to come into the game for the first time since their only attack of the first half, which resulted in a goal, of course.

All's well that ends well of course and we scored a third late in the game, and we could have scored more. Stortford, who were very disappointing yesterday, didn't.

Anyway. Three points in the bag, and three huge games to come. Bring on the Welling!

very astute point there AFF, about sitting deep after going ahead. do this far too often for my liking, affording the oppostition far too much respect i reckon

minor quibble tho..

Well done to Colin, Nick and all the lads from me as well.

Well said, JKIF. Pure class. With our passing game, we can beat any team in this league. A top all round team performance yesterday with Burton and Davis outstanding.

Fantastic travelling support. In excess of 200 by my calculations and the loudest singing I have witnessed in some time behind the Stortford goal, during the second half. Great stuff.

Roll on Saturday! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/excited.gif" alt="" />
