What do they say ? IF ONLY !
If only the Wingate keeper had stayed at home we would have scored 6 and be 3 points clear !
He did have a great game, BUT, we should have scored a couple more past him. A few of the shots were "at him" rather than him making a great save.

Question.
1. Does the Ref get fined for being late ? ( he should have been fined for his display today )
2. What did their 2 have to do to get a red card ?
That tackle on Woodward was disgraceful.
3. How many times did the lino get it wrong ?
4. What has Jim got against Steve Baldwin ?
His performances before Xmas were great...now he can't get in the team !

Dartford could only draw and surprisngly Berkhamstead did us a favour in beating Stamford.

 

However, we cannot continually rely on others helping us out. I know we have won six of our games at home but when you look at the league table of the others in the top six, Borehamwood, Corby and Chatham have only lost one, Stamford and Dartford have not lost at all. If a couple of the defeats had been draws and a couple had been wins, we would well out in front. We seem to have a problem at home and I wonder why. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chat.gif" alt="" />

What is the ruling with having the same linesman for both halfs.It seems to be happening all the time,lately.

 

Also,Why did he flag to disallow Hammetts goal.Did he think it was off-side or did he see a handball? And whatever it was, why did the ref chat to him for a full minute before awarding a free-kick?

Well Mr Hoare (the referee) didn’t endear himself by going to Ware and arriving late at Brimsdown. Start was delayed 10 minutes.

 

W& F contained town initially. Lee Smith on his 100th game almost had a Fairy tale start with an early opportunity to almost get in a 1 on 1 with the keeper. W & F had a shot wide. Paul Campbell was booked for a late tackle. Very little was getting through to the anticipative brilliance of Russell Penn. Andy Hall made a save. Bryan Hammatt was almost in a one on one with the keeper but for an offside flag. W & F shot just wide again. Finally in the 33rd minute Town had a breakthrough with smith and Hammatt making a great goal for Matty Negus to boot into the back of the net. 1 – 0. Johnny Morgan had a great charge into a one on one situation before standing there and wondering what to do. Town fans screamed at him to shoot but to no avail. W &F broke out well and left with a one on one with Kevin Stephens Kevin usher the striker almost down the tunnel away from the goal. Bryan Hammatt skied one over the bar. Lee Smith shot one just past the post and then minutes later forced a save. Chopper punched the ball out. Town ended the half fearful of a strike back and far from comfortable.

 

Second half Johnny Morgan had a shot saved. Kevin Stephens tracking back well. Paul Campbell made a solo run from deep only for a shot wide.

 

Especially for Arlesey in the 52nd minute Simon Patterson score through the fumbling hands of Chopper. Why especially for Arlesey well afterwards W & F thought there might have been a touch of handball in the goal. 1 – 1. Bryan Hammatt was smacked in the mouth with a fist by W & F No2. blindside of the referee play on. A great shot from Matty Negus was saved by an equally fine save with the feet. Bryan Hammatt made a great cross with Paul Campbell headed to the keeper shame. Bryan Hammatt lunged for a flying header and goal the ball was in the net. Goal, the celebrations began. The linesman

Flagged and after much deliberation the ref picked the ball up and motioned for a goal kick. Russell Penn headed only just wide. Keiron Woodward tackling back to cover the break. Running at the defence Keiron Woodward spun two defenders and crossed the ball for a Rudi Hall shot which was saved at point blank reflex by the keeper. Awesome save. Lee Smith off Trevor Paul on. Matty Negus off and Steve Velandia on. Trevor Paul spins on a cross and slams a shot, this must go in no another reflex save diving high. Bryan Hammatt made shot for Trevor Paul to shoot just wide. A Bryan Hammatt header saved. Bryan Hammatt just fails to chip the keeper. Johnny Morgan off and Niall Ritchie on. Kieron Woodward forces another excellent reflex save from the keeper. Does W & F have any other players on the pitch at the moment as one man single-handedly keeps town out. The keeper was applauded on the pitch and so he should have been? There was nothing wrong with the town performance just not quite enough luck

Your not alone OT, the boy played out of his skin in those 3 games before xmas & his reward is a total of about 60 mins in the next 3 games.

Also what was with that formation today??
Surely with the exception of injury's (Adam Gant) the 11 that finished that fantastic effort at Arlesey should have started today.
Woody was great maurauding forward in the 2nd half so why was he at left back with Magona at centre back (his 3rd position in 3 games!)
We appeared to have no balance.
Ritchie & Valandia have been great when given the chance, they need a run in the team of more than half a match or being sub.
The last two matches we have witnessed 2 great goalkeeping displays by the opposition & we certainly didnt waste our chances today & it wasnt for the want of effort that we didnt collect all 3 points.

It was a clear handball (from behind the goal) but what the discussion was about I dont know, if he did give handball where was the yellow card? so was it offside? I didnt think so.

No one has mentioned the clear penalty that wasn't given in the second half.

 

To my mind, the match can be summed up by:

 

Probably the best ever display by a visiting goal keeper &

Probably the worst ever display by a referee

Definately the worst possible 50:50 ticket to buy 20205!!!!!

I think the ref and lino were debating as to whether Hammet should have been cautioned for the handball.

 

From where I was standing I thought he handled it in and he wasn't proclaiming his innocence but standing well away from the discussion on the line hoping, I think, that it would all blow over.

 

If I do him a disservice then I apologise. It would also explain why the number 14 wasn't red carded for the blatent handball at the free kick!

From where I was standing, we did not look comfortable when W and F attacked during the second half. It did seem that they were more likely to score, especially with their keeper in the form he was in.

 

What went on with the 'two players' and the open goal in the first half?

 

Good to have a long chat with Steve Baldwin! Why wasn't he playing after his excellent performances of late?

Last time I saw goalkeeping display at the Brimobeu that good was our own Chopper versus AFC Sudbury in the FA Cup last year. Claimed the chance to win the game just by keeping the ball(and the kitchen sink) out of the net in the first 20 minutes.
