Winning goal was an Elliott Godfrey penalty after about 70ish minutes.

A match which deserved a draw. The team put in a fantastic effort, just a shame one moment of madness cost us the game.

 

Another great performance from Wilko who is sure to win Decembers player of the month award. Just a shame we didnt have the luck in front of goal we needed as the first 5 mins of both half could have put us at least 2-0 up.

Good game of football to watch but how many times can you slice the ball in one match. That performance in one word unlucky.

One thing i would like to mention is that why on earth did a group of Hampton fans feel that it was necessary to wind up the Slough fans by coming to the other end of the ground to chant "we are top of the league" as the home supporters walked past. It is obvious that this will cause somekind of a reaction. It seems very childish.

We were unlucky today. A good game where we showed some 'balls' whereas earlier in the season we would have easily lost that game by 2-3 goals.

 

Think they JUST deserved to win it as I thought despite us going close early on we never really looked like scoring as they maked Hodgey well out of the game - and when Hodgey does not score we generally struggle to score.

 

One of our problems was McCleary driting wide today. He played very well and caused them problems, but when he drifts wide it leaves Hodges isolated in the centre. So when the ball comes into the box one of the 3 Hampton centre-back's marking him easily win the ball.

 

That's why i'm suprised Eddie did not put Seedel on for Wilko or Ballard and sacrifice a holding midfielder when we were 1-0 down. Yes Seedel is not scoring goals, but did well at Leatherhead and it would have given the Hampton defenders something else to think about.

 

Eddie does not seem to really trust Seedel and Josh Millar as there have been games earlier in rhe season where he could have thrown them on when we have been losing, so if he's not going to play them when we are losing then why keep them - why not get a couple of new strikers in? Not criticism - just a thought and observation.

 

Josias was very quiet today, but that aside I thought we played well and if we show that passion and commitment we will be safe.

Def. deserved the draw at the very least today. Thought Wilkinson and McCleary were both awesome today, if Wilkinson keeps up these performances for the rest of the season, I'll be amazed if he dosn't win Player of the Season.

Have to say going to the match thought we might just lose to the (Top Team) but after such a good performance I was gutted we did not get anything from it... DESERVED A POINT AT LEAST...but it wasn't to be I guess..anyone thought Hampton had won the world cup ! sad really because they did not, they beat a team in 12th place who had lost 12 league matches already and only lost this one on a penalty goal !...not quite world cup stuff...

 

What happened to our boys behind the goal today..so so quiet..and even when the Girl's tried to get them going..silence..total bloody silence...! Hungover ??? If the players had not given their all, I am sure we would have had some slagging off ! of the players and manager.....

Certainly deserved something. Agree Wilko & McCleary were fantastic, but so was Steve Daly. Just one of those days today, if Ballard's and Wilko's chances in the 2nd half had fallen to Hodgey, it'd be different.

hi there all. rearly had a great chance to take at least a two nill lead in first ten minnutes but as for so many matches here we go again missing sitters and then letting them back in with a push on there player and a well taken penalty. had we lost to windsor we could be in big trouble. todays result does not help us feel we can grinf results out.

 

 

WEATHER WARNING

well the weather this week could be wet tommrow tuesday and very cold mid week. get your wollies ready and raincoats. this little devol of a high meeting a low could be bringing prodicted a sting in the winter tail. yes poss blobs of of white cotton woll (SNOW) by friday so we will all have to stay warm and keep an eye out of the bedroom window for signs of frost and the white stuff. well if we get it maybe poss just rain this side of the m4 and river. well not to sure where the weathers coming from and how much and auickley recieds. at present a week band of preasure anyway.

 

lets hope its on an beet the this teem from from essex and try to get enough points on the board for safety as beaton 0-3 over there.

 

remember we are realy now playing for pride and a mid table finnish and a new of old home in slough next year. one or two rumers say it could easily be groundshareing with maidenhead quite possibly don'nt know any details so dismiss them until we get any definat news bearing in mind windsor have been very good to us but poss maid some extra incombe from are stay and other things too.

Have to disagree. I thought we should have been at least 2-0 up at half time. The only time they really looked dangerous was after they scored the penalty and we seemed to lose concentration.

 

I think we were the better team and it was one of those days when we could still be playing now and we wouldn't have scored.

Absolutely spot on Chris. Me and Radders were saying exactly the same thing behind the goal. I am not Seedel's biggest fan but if Eddie rate's him as good enough for the bench he should be bringing him on to try and influence a game we are losing by the odd goal. From one attacking free kick late on we had Daly and Ballard down the centre, Hodgey stood out on the left and Gareth on the right. Madness. If Seedel is not to be used in that situation we should release him and get another striker in. Also surprised to see our second top scorer taken off.

In fairness to the team we were unlucky and I thought we played pretty well. Gareth does however look more effective playing out wide.

I don't think the pitch help much. I was told by one of the players at the start off the season that it was like playing on a ploughed field.

I can't imagine what it would be like to play on now.

 

I think we played well today, and definately deserved a draw, if not the win. For a team that is top of the league, they looked pretty ordinary.

 

Also, Devonshire was pretty quiet most of the match, apart from yelling at his players to get out of the hole, all the time.

Seedel should have come on, I don't care what kind of form he's in, a striker was needed for the last 10 and he was just sat there. All in all though a good showing, McCleary put in a performance of the like I haven't seen in a Slough shirt for a long, long time. Saying that Wilko was also superb. Daly had a decent game but have to say that Avery and Steele looked wobbly and both sliced the ball on numerous occasions. Should have got a point, and a final point, never thought I'd say this, but well done to Matt Lovett, for his reaction at the end, maybe not all bad after all!!! (Saying that it would have been different if he hadn't won, I'm sure)

thought we were extremely unlucky not to gain a point. Wilko and McCleary both had awesome games and ian hodges was unlucky a few times. Not once did I feel like we were up against title contenders, particularly with the childish attempts at wasting time towards the end, although to be fair Lovett has grown up (and outwards) a lot since we last saw him... extremely well behaved.

I still strongly rate Miller as a viable option up front with Hodges, but clearly eddie must know something we don't. Also didn't think it was wise to play Mason ahead of Harris/Alexis today, he's a good player on his day but since his injury he's looked nervous on the field and against a side like Hampton, who were always going to be physical, he was, in my humble opinion, the wrong choice.

On a side note, many thanks to all the well wishers I received today re: my quitting the fags, it was very much appreciated.
