I used to play this. I'm not sure how it works now but we used to be in the qualifying league and in the qualifying league you could hold down left and right to curl the ball, whereas in the proper league you couldn't.

 

Anyway, I used to get over 100,000. I think my best was around 149,000. It's a lot easier with the curling.
