For those of you who think that you may be getting an afternoon in seated luxury I think you will be disappointed - the away end at in standing (small shrubs and plenty of broken concrete to throw around) and uncovered.

 

There is one small pie stand selling various home made (?) fare.

 

£16 is an increase from last year (get relegated and increase prices) but the student discount is genuine for EFM university branch.

 

There are a small number of seats for away fans in the corner of the stand opposite the main stand that is nearest to the standing area.

 

There a a few decent pubs in town - I can supply further info if required.

When was the last time you were there, only I spoke to Eamsie yesterday, and he reckoned it was all-seater now??

Two seasons ago but I know a number of people who went last year - no plans for all seated apparently as they were looking to move.

 

However it may be all wrong.

See link above - it is indeed seating but uncovered, presumably still tea bar smaller than city.

 

For those going by train you arrive in the strangely named Grand Central, a few pubs, mainly robinsons. Cannot miss the ground as you can see it from the train (nice little EFM booze train via Sheffield I would imagine)

I'm up for going via Sheffield myself, but need to speak to the others. Pete was trying to arrange something on the Watford Virgin line, but with the engineering works, I'd prefer to go via Sheffield.

 

Either way, booze will play a large part!!

St Albans to Luton

 

Trains leave luton for Sheffield at x.47 and take two hours - therefore the 8.47 would arrive at 10.47 roughly.

 

Sheffield to Stockport takes aprox. 50 minutes and are either the train that goes from Norwich to Liverpool or local services.

 

A very pleasant journey through the Hope Valley and a trolley service of drinks and light refreshments no doubt.

 

The ground is about 15 minutes from Stockport (Grand Central) Station.

 

Last trains back to Luton from Sheffield are about 8 on a Saturday I think.

... £46.50 day return. You can buy train tickets on the day - no need to do so in advance.

If two, three or four people travel together on specified trains then you can get a four sight ticket from Luton to Sheffield return for £48 (roughly) which would make it £12 return if four go.

All you need then is St Albans to Luton and Sheffield to Stockport - this should be cheaper.
