I have to sadly report that at least 6 of the guys I usually attend with have weighed up the options for tonight:

 

1. Spend another £12 watching a load of anonomous loan players in Fleet shirts kick the ball up in the air for 90 minutes in the hope that Charlie might get on the end of one and grind out a result

 

...... or 2. sit in a nice warm pub with 5 pints of beer for the same money.

 

All unfortunately have chosen the latter

 

These are supporters who have been at almost all home games over the past 20 years or so and many away games per season.

 

A common trend I fear that will escalate

 

I noted we had the lowest Boxing Day Conference gate by almost 500 to the second lowest - the rot is setting in isn't it.

Although I can see why they would choose that option , 20 years ago we could pay to watch players we could then go and see at Kings Farm for free the next day .

Not having seen that many games this season I've got no answers but to put it in a bit of perspective we're mid-table at the highest level we've ever played , I don't think it should be total doom and gloom .

And the loan players is probably a big issue as the majority like to connect with the team , not wonder who that guy at left back is and why he's gone after 2 games .

To be honest they are all staying away because of the lack of entertainment and lack of identity of the team now.

 

.... and like everyone else the whole season started on a sour note with the ridiculous 20% price increase and they have been on a bit of a "downer" since then.

 

In the past they have turned up rain or shine and whatever the day of the game was.

 

I'll be there come what may but I think its the thin end of the wedge when stalwarts like these guys are not attending.

It's not an opinion being put forward by me, its purely a statement of facts.

 

People are not coming this season and now defecting in droves, make your own mind up why !

 

I've purely stated a combination of reasons why this particular handful of guys are disenchanted and will be staying away

 

There must be some reason why approximately 500 people have defected from last season must there not Stu M ?

Are your sure you are not a Dartford Harry Redknapp ( i.e. infultrates local rivals, undermines confidence, f*cks them up, etc !)

 

Perhaps the loss of your pals will be offset by me bringing down my mates/associates, who have not been before. Not ideal, a stalemate situation, but it's in your hands.

 

I would say Happy New Year, but I am not sure that Happy is in your vocabulary ?

 

Anyway, as per my previous post, I am p#ssed off vis the postpoment so I am off out (again !)now.

Might be due to ringing the club at 18:00 and being told that the game will definitely be on, and yes do travel up from Canterbury. Then turning up 19:00 to find the gates locked and a lot of very pissed off people standing outside the ground shouting into mobile phones. I am just waiting for the Crawley fans that made the trip up, to get home. The air will probably turn blue around this forum.

Bleedin hell Hirsty, suggest a Strongbow or four may be in order! Oh and mentioning Redder's and the might Darts in one sentence. Have you been at the port? Pop down on Monday for a proper game.
