Plans in pipeline to shift railway station By Pete Sherlock

 

A radical plan to shift Enfield Town train station down the tracks is being considered by council leaders.

 

The long-term plan would see the station moved 100 yards back from its present location to clear the way for a bus terminus, making the site a central transport hub.

 

The current bus terminus stands in Little Park Gardens to the west of the town. But the council has snapped up the site of the former Enfield Arms pub for an estimated £1million with the switch in mind.

Ten years to move a station 100 yards. What chance of the Council building a football ground in our lifetimes then?

Saw this feature in the locals some three weeks ago. Great to see the news, especially after trying to get up Southbury Road in anything under 30 minutes during the run up to Christmas! What chance have we of getting through the Town if it has taken this long to alter the traffic flow?

 

Can't see it happening for a while.

Maybe the song will have to change "Bush Hill Park is a Railway Station".

no sure WARE the station would be!

 

 

Maybe with all the local housing that has gone up recently it will you will have a FAIRVIEW of the town from the platform !

Will they reduce the fair as the journey will not be as long as before?

 

Certainly won't be a fair view of a town game from the platform! Any fixtures and fittings from the station that Town could buy from the railway if their useful life for them is complete? Perry did us proud with the new club shop.

Maybe we could ask for some of those strips of steel that the trains run on then we know we are on the right Track!

 

How about one of their 'Enfield Town' sign? I am sure there is one on the old signal box.
