Yes, I think a front 3 of Smith,Cove,and Cooper is easily as good as anything we've had since,but how long would that strike force have remain harmonious with Cove's and Cooper's personalities?

They could be tempemental,and arguementative on the field. As a result team spirit could suffer,but there is no doubt they were both talented players.

Sometimes (and I'm not suggesting that this is the case at ETFC) a lack of goals scored, by the team or by the strikers, is not the fault of the strikers but a lack of appropriate service. The best striker in the world can't score if he hasn't got the ball. Conversely poor stikers can notch up a few if they have a creative midfield behind them.

 

So it's up to a manager to decide wherther his midfield or his strikers (or both) need changing if goals are lacking.

Against EFC,there were enough passes through by the midfield,and enough good movement and anticipation from our strikers,to fashion plenty of clear-cut shots on goal.Unfortunatly an average first touch or a weak shot often resulted and the chance was wasted.

In fairness the pitch had a lot to do with that: not least when Bryan was about to shoot and the ball bobbled and hit his standing leg, leaving him looking very silly. The reason was obvious from my angle, but possibly not from others'.

I hasten to add that I was speaking in general terms, just sort of musing on the subject (although actually with Spurs somewhat in mind). I intended no criticism of players or tactics as I have yet to see a game this season, and therefore cannot possibly comment.

Unfortunately, I think ESL was his top level.

Yes he certainly did.
He was "on fire" and, but for the sharpness of the Ref giving a pen, Lee could have had a 20 minute hatrick.
Super performance which means he MUST start on Monday and he MUST continue to show the agression he did today.

As someone else said - it was like a cup tie in the last half hour.

Why would it be a misrepresentation of the facts? The published figures are for all goals scored including those from penalties. I would be more interested in seeing figures for goals scored from open play.

 

Thus they are simply different facts.

 

Obviously a player designated to take the penalties will score more than one who doesn't, so it's not really a like for like comparison.

Rudi has scored most of his goals from direct free kicks. It just so happens that most of those direct free kicks are from the penalty spot!
