It always annoys me when after a team has lost a string of games .........

if you check the STATS we don't often have them.......

I never said that WE did just that the way people say things annoys me.

Sometimes (and I'm not suggesting that this is the case at ETFC) a lack of goals scored, by the team or by the strikers, is not the fault of the strikers but a lack of appropriate service. The best striker in the world can't score if he hasn't got the ball. Conversely poor stikers can notch up a few if they have a creative midfield behind them.

So it's up to a manager to decide wherther his midfield or his strikers (or both) need changing if goals are lacking.

I hasten to add that I was speaking in general terms, just sort of musing on the subject (although actually with Spurs somewhat in mind). I intended no criticism of players or tactics as I have yet to see a game this season, and therefore cannot possibly comment.

But I'll be there tomorrow and Monday! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

But you could also say bring on Smithy when on form, which he has not been this season.

Unfortunately, I think ESL was his top level.

Like him to prove me wrong, but can't see him getting a run in the team. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

i think he did today!

Yes he certainly did.
He was "on fire" and, but for the sharpness of the Ref giving a pen, Lee could have had a 20 minute hatrick.
Super performance which means he MUST start on Monday and he MUST continue to show the agression he did today.

As someone else said - it was like a cup tie in the last half hour.

Great result. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Why would it be a misrepresentation of the facts? The published figures are for all goals scored including those from penalties. I would be more interested in seeing figures for goals scored from open play.

Thus they are simply different facts.

Obviously a player designated to take the penalties will score more than one who doesn't, so it's not really a like for like comparison.
