See Canvey beat Grays 2-1 today, but more interesting was the attendance - just under 3,000 for two traditionally low-support-base sides.

 

Makes our 1,400 even more abject.

 

PS. And 1,700 at Dover v Ramsgate... we can bang on about the club not marketing itself properly and the football being dull, but let's face it, no ba$tard is interested round here and if they are they've gone to Charlton or Gillingham.

Perhaps we should have switched to Tuesday to avoid the clashes with Gills and Charlton?

 

Probably wouldnt have helped greatly, but may have added a few?

I bought 2 new people along to the game, they enjoyed it and are coming back Friday!! I must've explained a 1000 times we are'nt always this bad etc etc - they enjoyed it!! so who knows just keep getting new people involved and you never know where it might end up!!

It did not take too much foresight to see that with Charlton V Arsenal live on box the same time we kicked off ( For the uninitiated these teams have fairly big fan bases in our area !) , along with all the other leagues playing as well meant our crowd was not going to be that big.

 

We take the pee out of Essex friends but they tend to be better at spotting an opportunity than we do, and the change to the following day when there were no games on the box or anywhere, meant a captive audience on a Bank holiday afternoon and a bumper crowd.

 

I do hope that we did try to arrange a change with the Daggers , but form would suggest we didn't.

personally think the change could have seen a crowd of over 2000.

 

At least our 50,000 pound giveaway is going well.

 

 

Up the Fleet and lets hope we get a bumper crowd out for Cheeky Trevor T's 40th on friday and down at the Fleet as well.

Who knows, Charlton's recent slump in form may benefit our gates.

Whilst they are in the premiership it won't make a difference as they only go to watch the other teams, but when they slide back into the championship it will be interesting.
