Best Eleven?

Recommended Posts

After the Daggers game (which I missed) I notice everyone's starting to question Daish's team selection. Now personally I feel it's a shame that the part timers are starting to get left out even though they seem perfectly capable of holding a place in the side, but I realize it must be easier for Liam to select the players he sees five times a week rather than those he sees 2 times a week.

So what would your current best eleven be including all current loan signings and forgetting all current injuries?

Mine would be:

Holloway

Protheroe R Smith Macarthy Skinner

Slatter Bowry Saunders Jacko

Macdonald (Moore?)

I was close to putting Porter and Macca in but I ain't seen them in so long I weren't sure if they'd be any better than what we have here. The uncertainty over Macdonalds partner says it all really. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Holloway - playing well recently cemented number one spot and answered critics.

Skinner - need his fight and experience in the team

R Smith - just plain excellent

McCarthy - again experience

Protheroe - best passer of the football in our team

Drury/Slatter - tough call really? Slatter for me I think

Jackson - no need to say anything

Bowry

Saunders or Macca when fit and proven

MacDonald

A.N.Other?! We dont have even a stop gap at the moment for the other striker berth? Maybe Drury?!

Holloway

Protheroe

Skinner

Ross Smith

McCarthy or Porter. ( Saw Porter in the reserve game at Thurrock and he had a pretty decent first half that he played. Just feel even though McCarthy has experience he doesn't have much pace.)

Slatter

Bowry

Saunders

Jacko/Bradley Johnson is a tough one for me.

McDonald

Coleman

I also rate Richard Hodgson but have no room for him!

yes but who thinking bout it who would go there? he has some good games and some bad.

Yeah just point out those 'some bad' games to me, and then I might agree. Or not...

My team would be:

Holloway
Protheroe (but we need a proper right back)
R.Smith
McCarthy
Skinner (just plain obvious)
Slatter
Saunders
Bowry
Jacko (no doubt)
Drury in front of...
MacDonald

not so sure about that unless you like the big lump upfield

I'd say Proths is probably the best crosser of the ball that we have. He's good at swinging them deep crosses in for people to attack.

Exactly, I do like provs, and I agree with many of the above points eg crosses, free kicks etc, and ofcourse after Boxing Day I now have no doubts whatsoever he is better than Gooding, but what we want is someone who passes, and, if provs hasn't changed him game in the time he hasn't been playing, I would guess he plays at least 80% long.

I think if provs can change his game for the better, just by passing a bit more, the whole structure of our game and indeed our performances could/will change.
