EFC 1 Town 2

lovely stuff

My point being that the performance yesterday may not inspire those floating supporters to Brimmo next Monday, even though we are second in the league. It was a great opportunity yesterday to show people what ETFC can do. For 45 minutes the team did this, but after that....

Oh well, three more points.

duke Of York asked...

I see Enfield's mascot at yesterday's game was only 6 months old and already had a replica shirt. This little lad must be the son of a pretty hard core EFC fan!

Yes he is the son of an old friend of ours and the shirt he was wrapped in was the old green and red quartered away shirt which to some is known as "the Grenlight" shirt.

Firstly i was suprised to see no sponsor on their shirts.Secondly, why was there no tannoy announcements, surely this is mandatory at this level of football. Also,EFC did have three matchballs, but they were so OLD that all the markings had worn off on them and they were turning yellow.
The programme wasn't bad,but had a few important things missing.Someone has already mentioned that attendence figures were missing from the results page. Also, there were no player stats (season 2005-6 and career).

You could argue that no tannoy announcer is better than 'the Mad Man on the Mike'!

On the subject of the programme, I would like to congratulate EFC on a very good production. Was this a standard issue or was a little more effort put in for the derby clash? I thought the editorial was well written, the historical article on games of yesteryear an interesting read and the overall presentation was excellent. As good as the Town programme in my opinion. Was a shame that no attendance figures were included but there is a full list on tonykempster.co.uk
Not including Tuesday's game the average gate is roughly 100.

Reflecting on the game, obviously Town were not at their best but it was a shame to see Enfield struggle as they did. It seems that the old fighting spirit of EFC has gone especially when compared to the Vase game last season when it was still evident.

We got a decent reception from the EFC supporters and were made welcome in the bar. They are going through a bad patch at the moment but at least there are people committed to helping the club and they are doing the best they can in the circumstances.

I don't think there has been any mention of other club's balls, tannoy system and programmes after we have played them so why has it started now with EFC? What point are people trying to prove?

Good to see MK James and especially Russ on Tuesday.

We couldn't mention it before we played them

I would have brought up those topics whoever we had played.I didn't mention those topics just because it was EFC.

I made those comments less than 24 hours after the game.I believe they were fair comment.'Royal Enfield' then responded politely and constructively about the subjects i raised.

I watched EFC play PBT earlier this season and they had the same format programme - It was a standard issue on Tuesday. The layout and style has hardly changed since we played them in the Vase last season. Last season's version also failed to confirm attendances.

Having read through the archives on the EFC forum I have noticed a lot of the regular contributors (I know there are not many) are based closer to Ware than Goldsdown Road! Could it be that their home location influenced which side of the 'Enfield' debate they chose to support? ....Just a thought!

So only about 5 current EFC fans actually saw the club win the Conference(Gola) and the FA Trophy?

LS not sure what your point is?

for example; how many West Ham Supporters have ever seen them win anything??

You don't have to be old to be a supporter!

In answer to your question- no.
MKJames- since 1986
Russ & Bad Egg - since the early sixties.

Enfield Horn, Top Gun, Ponders Ender,Syrup,From the Lane,Glamour Puss- all of them 80's/early 90's..

This is not the point I was making. I do not question EFC fans loyalty or the length of time they had supported the club. What I was pointing out was that I have noticed that most of the EFC fans who post on the 'Enfield' forum are conveniently located closer to Wodson Park than Goldsdown Road. I was suggesting that these particular fans may have been influenced as to which incarnation of 'Enfield' they were going to support after the sale of Southbury Road and all the groundshares that followed.

If may not be that so much. It may be that as most of the fans are based nearer to Ware than North London, they maybe now will not be as despertate to return to Enfield ,as they would have been ,if they still lived in Enfield (and had to travel the 12 miles up the A10 every game, including the ever congested Tesco's part.)

Also the management and a lot of the players are very much of the 'Hertfordshire area'.

The longer you're away, the more ties you break, and the harder it is to return.

My apologies. Makes no difference to me, both Green Street and Ware can be done in an hour from here on a good day. I'll tell you why I stayed with EFC, 1. because I always felt that Laz wouldn't last, and that EFC would survive him and 2. ETFC Friendly vs. Brimsdown- very unimpressed both by the ground(yes I know we played on the pitch round the back) and the standard of football. 3. The Essex Senior League. I like to go to as many games as possible, but regular trips from here to darkest Essex- no thanks. 4. As the song goes I'm Enfield til I die(or they do)

I think most E's fans will tell you reason 4, and no I don't want to go into the argument as to who the real Enfield is again. It doesn't really matter all that much.
