lovely stuff

A good first half which even I enjoyed with my freezing feet and freezing other bits!! must have been poor in the second half as I dont remeber seeing them that much up our end whilst standing gossiping behind the goal!! thought the language was a bit over the top in some of the songs bearing in mind there was quite a number of young children there.. thought both sets of supporters would be trying to encourage "families" to attend not sure some of the songs were appropriate!!

Didn't understand the "traitor" chants from the exiles, as there were a fair number of Towners today who never went to Southbury Rd.

I thought that was bit rich as well. Especially as it was those very fans singing 'traitor', who went against the wishes and will of the EFC fans as a whole, when they ignored the outcome of a free and fair vote on the setting up a new club in 2001.We were too polite though, to reply with a chant of 'scabs'.

Saying that, there wasn't too much hostility.Apart from a few from each side shouting and singing inappropriate songs, the majority were respectfull.

It seems there are now NO neutral supporters left.Top Gun flew the flag in recent seasons as the only true 50/50 fan.He sat in the middle of the mainstand for the last clash. He now seems to be inbedded in the small EFC clan. Good luck to him, and i'm sure he'll always be welcome back to the Town if he does decide to split his loyalties again.

PS.. No Mr Brassett and his flag.

PPS.. NO Fruitbat either.

Let's not go over all that yet again!

Re. team selection: while fully understanding that this is Jim's responsibility, and his alone, it miht clear things up a little if the website and programmes could clarify when players are unavailable through injury, suspension, work commitments and so on - we tend not to fetaure on Sky Sports or 5 Live! At our level there is bound to be more unavailability, and at least we would know when there is a change through choice or if it forced upon Jim. I daresay a number of you are in the know, as it were, but even those that can regularly get to games are not necessarily in teh "inner circle" so to speak.

Players missing: Ritchie,Baldwin,Smith.

On the bench: Stevens,Allen,Negus,Green,Woodward.

2 right backs, a left back, a not fully fit right sided midfielder & Matty on the bench, so if one of the forwards got injured?????
Why didnt Smudger make the bench?
Injured?, suspended?, anyone know?

If he was watching today after seeing some of that finishing he must fancy an extended run in the team!!!

Reading the posts about today's game may I put the point, that quite often teams who are in the top parts of a league more often or not struggle when playing a side near the bottom.

From park football through our level and probably up as far the conference this happens.

Well the tipsters tip Boringwood to win the league by a mile and Corby second. If we keep playing like today then I might have to conceed they have a point.

Talking of tipsters they tip certain horses when the going is soft, good and firm. Maybe that is how Jim selects his team. i.e. what going best suits them. Having said that at Sittingbourne Baldrick was like a pig in muck - Ah well back to the drawing board.

In that case lets hope they don't tip us!!!!!!!!

It is very easy to say that the team was chosen to win today and a different side will be chosen to win on Saturday. If it comes off, then fine. However, as mentioned earlier, the performance was not in keeping with the high standard set during the last month.

I know nearly anyone will take three points when playing badly, but we should have had at least 6 goals today in front of the biggest crowd of the season. There were obviously quite a few floating supporters today so I wonder how many will come down to Brimmo next Monday after seeing that performance?

If we had all our loyal supporters plus the floating supporters, then you would expect around 450. If you take away players, committee etc then there seemed very few EFC supporters there.

Team selection has to be down to Jim, and we can all comment on the results, the league position would seem to indicate he is getting something right.......

So, one player turned up a day early. Unfortunately, one of our [recently] key starters turned up late and had to miss out.

I disagree with Softie's earlier analysis of the pitch. It looked pretty poor to me and I guess had deliberately been unattended since it was last used to affect anybody who was thinking of seeking to play a passing game. And as for only having one ball in the first half; I reckon there's a fine out there if the referee pursues it.

Apart from the EFC goal did they really have any/many other chances? It was just a shame they were so poor in the first half that when they finally worked out who their team mates were Town had gone to sleep. But, in reality, the three points were never in danger.

If Daniel Clarke has gone [again] to Ilford, then I think EFC is in real trouble. That side, or the one that does away with the four players brought in for yesterday's game, will struggle to score more than it lets in for the remainder of the season.

And finally, did anybody else notice that the programme doesn't disclose this season's crowds?

I was surprised that a number of enfield die hards were not there , Given the last 4/5 matches I think some saw yesterday as a walkover .It was nothing like the vase match. Or the two vase games after which were reasonably well attended.

As far as the match went you should have been 3-0 up at half time. The second half we got better possibly your boys relaxed a bit and let us back in . I can't see you finishing outside the top two. As for us our priority is to avoid the bottom two, We've had too many players come through the club and have not performed at all.

I predict you'll do o k in the shake up.

Have you an idea of a rough % of current Towners that were not followers of EFC before Town were formed? Surely there can't be many current 'Enfield' fans who didn't follow EFC before the split.

I began following ETFC when I moved to the area. I can't imagine anyone moving to Ware and choosing to follow the tenants rather Ware. Equally, I can't imageine a new arrival to Enfield deciding to follow EFC over ETFC.

I see Enfield's mascot at yesterday's game was only 6 months old and already had a replica shirt. This little lad must be the son of a pretty hard core EFC fan!

Let's hope we play better football at Arlesey on Saturday.

Did'nt go to the game yesterday for reasons best known to myself, but have to agree with you Southport.

What I was pleased with was the article in the Matchday programme "Matches from the Past" It contained reports of matches where our very own
Safety Officer Dave Farenden's Grandad Jim Farenden played. Very nice for Dave & his Uncle Brian to see that.

From what i can gather,EFC's commitee members and board seem to be an honest, hardworking outfit, but i would like to point out a couple of things that could be improved on.

Firstly i was suprised to see no sponsor on their shirts.Secondly, why was there no tannoy announcements, surely this is mandatory at this level of football. Also,EFC did have three matchballs, but they were so OLD that all the markings had worn off on them and they were turning yellow.

The programme wasn't bad,but had a few important things missing.Someone has already mentioned that attendence figures were missing from the results page. Also, there were no player stats (season 2005-6 and career).

The pitch did consist of tufts of grass, rather than an even surface, but as tennents, i don't feel EFC can be held responsable for that.

The shirt sponsor pulled out at the very start of the season giving us no time to get a replacement.

As far as the matchballs go .I was surprised as we normally have an ample ammount.so I dont know what happenend there.

Player stats , well as you know we have so many come and go it aint worth doing. We have about 6 players who started the season still with us.

The Tannoy is a problem as there is no roving mic .To make announcements you have to go into the managers office to operate it. It isn't our system so it is a problem, But I do agree its something that we need to look at.

The two lads were working on the pitch from early in the morning and if it wasn't for them the game would have been in serious doubt. There was no time to get it rolled over.

I dont know why the attendance figures are not put in ,clubs that have less and same ammounts of people do put them in. The information for some reason isn't given to mark kettley . I dont know why that is.
