First one, Brett Johnson let Southam past him easily, Gooding missed a simple opportunity to clear the cross, connecting with fresh air instead, and Moore was unmarked to score.

Second one, Johnson again at sixes and sevens, fell over, ball fell to an unmarked Moore once again, thank you very much, 3-1.

PASSION

Where was the fighting spirit that we have seen from our teams over the past few years? That was what really hurt today. As far as I can see, the lack of urgency and commitment from the team is going to cause us real problems as the season carries on.

I don't mind losing if the team shows a bit of fight, but today we just rolled over and died.

Absolutely.

Whole team looked really down in the mouth 1st half, Andy espcially - even before his knock. Think Bobby had a go at him & we know he doesn't always rspond well to criticism.

2nd half, without ever showing the urgency needed to carve out decent chances, we imposed ourselves on the game & showed why Dagenham have been struggling this season. I just hope they don't think a 3-1 win based on 2 farcical defensive cockups is the start of a bright new dawn. Overall I though both teams lacked imagination & flair & on today's showing could well struggle later in the season.

But to return to the key point: passion. Can you imagine Jacko, Skins or Jay showing too little desire to win if they'd been out there? Yes, we have too many loan players - are they really going to turn it on game after game? Only notable exception I can think of from the recent past was Craig McCallister. Boy could we do with him around now.

I just hope Mr Daish has more up his sleeve than bollocking the team. Needs to look at everyhing, including his own selection & tactics. Today wasn't a one off. We've ridden our luck throughout our apparent good run, picking up more points than we were entitled to in at least 3 games. I hope I'm proved wrong, but I'm not in the least hopeful of getting anything in the return against one of those hard done by teams on Friday.

lol, we lose and play crap and everyone is talking about relegation and Daish resigning. We will beat Daggers 4/5 nil on 2nd as it is ou turn to turn them over at Victoria Road(tongue in cheek). Seriously people, if our real supporters are this fickle, how do you expect the casuals to be? I've been holding out on posting my feelings for a while now, but I just hate how fickle some of you lot are on this board.
Rant aside....who actually made those two mistakes today? I could excuse one, but twice? was it the same person even? to much lager over christmas clouded my view at the far end.

My thoughts are not purely because of the Dagenham game - which I was unable to attend, but because of watching Liam's teams since he joined.
Pretty dour personality, coaching pretty dour football, signing full time players who are mostly no better than the part timers they replace.
I have NEVER been convinced by Liams tactical or management skills, as is frequently borne out by his often strange team selections and baffling substitutions.
Ranting and shouting at players can have it's uses, but invariably the end result is that players are scarede of making mistakes and simply do not want the responsibilty of having the ball - hence the aimless hoof up the pitch, route 1.
Let us get back to basics, play football on the floor, on our good pitch, using skillful players such as Drury, Protheroe, Skinner, Slatter, Bowry, Jackson and Jay to build the play from the back and midfield.
Liam has proved that he can spot good players, perhaps that is what he should be doing more often?

Why does Roberts feel the need to roll around on the ground when Dagenham score ??....just confirms what we all think he is !!
...a disgrace to his team ! ( decorum prohibits me stating my true feelings about the #### !)

Regards,

I may be missing something but what true feelings to you have towards Tony? If you dont wish to state them here then I be happy for you to send me a message/email to tell me. We dont think he is a disgrace. Isnt a player allowed to be happy when his team scores? Especially after the last couple of months we have had. How many players do you know make the fans laugh while keeping a professional mind during play? How many players do you know provide class entertainment at end of season presentations? Not many! Tony is a legend for us and his skill and personality will be sorely missed when he retires. A note for you next time we meet- "sheep s*****r" isnt that original. Think of something else then maybe we will put the effort in to reply to your lousy chants. (we are usually louder than we was today. I think some of us were a little frail today hehe).

Moaning aside I think we can all agree that mince pies and turkey got the best of the players today. Sloppy game from both sides and your defence let the rest of the side down.

See you all on the 2nd!

I personally have no problems with Roberts. He played along with the GNFC fans behind the goal and took it all in good spirit. Even he was amazed at some of the line man's and refs decisions. As to the celebration. You scored, he celebrated. Nothing wrong with that!

With any more games like the garbage on Boxing Day(NO PRIDE NO PASSION NO PUNTERS)we will be back to the loyal 400.So I would suggest changes must come with the New Year if you want to keep your fans happy B.K.I have supported this club from day one so please lets at least make a game of it Friday. All I ask is to put some passion into the game and look like you want to be playing, after all that is only being FULL TIME and not leave us praying for FULL TIME> AMEN.

If we do nothing else in the transfer window, I think we should loan out, or get rid of Scott Gooding. He is not up to Conference standard, and should go before he costs us another game. I heard a comment on the terrace yesterday; “Scott always has a good game…for the opposition”. After recent performance I cannot but agree!

This defeat has been coming - that's the point everyone is making.

Exactly - while it's clearly over-presumptuous to say yesterday's defeat will definitely lead to a poor run of form, there are clear signs for concern, such as the chronic lack of strength in depth up front.

Credit must go to Holloway for a fine save from the first effort though.

Particuarly galling was the fact that our attendance was the worst in the Conference yesterday by about 500.

Stu M said:Just to echo others' thoughts - the two Johnsons aren't bad players, but neither contributed much today (unless you count Brett being turned inside out by Moore and slipping for the third goal), but how they keep Skins and Jacko out of the team on merit is beyond me.

Admittedly, Bradley did set up our goal yesterday, but while it's a bit silly for people to say he's 'crap' and suchlike, he certainly doesn't seem a lot better than Jacko, as you suggest. The same can indeed be said about Brett and Skins. As Jimmy says, it comes back to the 'use them or lose them' problem about loan players, which can inevitably lead to long-serving and dedicated players being unfairly kept out of the side.

A draw might have been fair overall, for while we hit the bar (OK, so it would have been a Blackett own goal) and had a header from Brett cleared off the line, Benson wasted a couple of clear opportunities for them and they could have had a penalty (i.e. the incident where Moore was booked for diving - I have to say I couldn't tell either way). However, our defending at the death ultimately means we can't really fairly lay claim to anything other than the defeat we got.

Minor plus points were Charlie and Bobby's displays (as usual) and Hodgson's crossing ability when he came on.

I think the problem with yesterdays result is it confirms us as a mid-table at best side. Most of us would probably accept a mid-table finish and as this is Liams first full season in the Conference and we are in a transition stage a mid-table finish would certainly not be a disgrace, however our gates have been very poor this season and if we have nothing to play for in the second half of the season I can only see the attendance figures dropping.

Dear Moore fan,

I have calmed down a bit now, but still feel that Robert's antics were over the top & unecessary.....and he certainly didn't make me laugh ! You probably didn't hear my "chants" anyway, as you were at the opposite end, so you cannot really comment !

Anyway...all over & done now.....see you next Monday.

Cheers,

What a disappointing game.Daish ought to listen to the fans and bring Jacko and Skins back into the team, and inject a bit more passion into the side.We open up defences better when we play the ball on the ground, and poor old Charlie ain`t got no chance if he keeps getting high balls played up to him.He seemed to be a lone striker today.Full time players aren`t necessarily better than part timers,so less arrogance Daish, and get Jacko and Justin back playing .After a good performance, there aren`t many better sights than Jacko`s grin when he acknowledges the fans at the end of a game.It lifts everyone`s spirits!

I was 1 of the people who was critical of LIam early in the season, but whilst still not convinced about him, to his credit he has made some good signings, MacDonald, Ross Smith particularly but also Bowry, who I know not everybody likes, but he is a very solid midfield player with decent distribution & we were much worse off when he didn't play.

Sadly Liam's main problems are at full back. Gooding has made mistakes but had a good game against Morecambe (our best result under Liam) but had another poor game against Dagenham. I think we need Proths back. As for the left back how Brett Johnson can be picked ahead of Skins is beyond me. Please change it Liam!

I also would prefer Jacko for Bradley Johnson, but to be fair Bradley hasn't done badly so it's a personal preference.

Still unsure about Coleman, but can't understand why we saw so little of Sodje, he was MOM against York & fantastic away at Accy.

An interesting thread, with a lot of views that I agree with.

Firstly, it does look like Daish is trying to p**s off all the part time guys so that they leave of their own accord.

This is totally stupid however from a football point of view because Skinner, Jacko, Saunders and Proths would be the players you'd probably pencil in first on every team sheet because they are good, solid bread and butter Conference players. No-one will convince me that the batch of loan guys we have at the moment are even as good as them let alone better !

But moving away from comments regarding individual players, I look at the bigger picture. We are now playing football that is very, very dull, with a group of players, who although physically fit and strong, are a group of strangers owing to this constant loan situation and they indeed show no combined passion etc.

My thoughts on us moving to full-time remains like it was 6 months ago - what has it achieved ? Nothing apart from boring, possibly more consistant football, lower attendances, higher admission prices.

In the meantime the stadium is falling to pieces with no real plans for a move to a new Ground (all pie in the sky at present)and the club is plummeting further and further into debt.

We were surviving in the Conference when we were part time, all we are doing now is the same thing at a much higher cost to the club.

Unless a club is in a position to challenge for promotion why bother !

Who says we won't still get in the play-offs and get promoted this season. Ok it's a big ask of the players and club, but we are only 7 points off the play-offs now. Get a couple of wins and we could be in with a shout.

We cannot however afford to make defensive errors like we did against Dagenham. Otherwise it will cost us more games and things won't look so good for us.

The main difference between part time and full time players at this level is purely that the so called full time players have moved from league clubs after not making the grade and quite simply can't or don't want another job outside of football

In other words full time by default !

Another little thought - It would a much easier job for Daishy if he only had to come to the ground in the day to take training wouldn't it - a hidden agenda maybe ?
