just wondered if anyone can enlighten me on the criteria to enter?

 

i notice that there are conference teams in the competition but have no recollection of Canvey entering. Dagenham were in it.

 

Is it based on standard of stadium or final conference placings? or were all conference teams involved but in some sort of preliminary round?

It's based on final Conference placings although you have to have a league standard ground to enter.

You have to finish in the top 12 of the conference and have league ground criteria.

"The invitations to the Conference clubs are based on the final league positions from the previous season, but to qualify for entry into the competition the club`s ground must meet the Football League Admission Criteria of a minimum capacity of 5000 with 1000 seats."

The season before last we finished in the correct positions but our ground wasn't good enough.
