That's not all, Phil. Quite a big bit on them in the Northfleet Chronicle a few weeks ago. Well, I say a big bit, it was only four lines actually (and that included three spelling mistakes). But I understand Andy Ford cracked open a bottle of bubbly on the strength of it.

We had England's top scorer last season!!!

If I remember rightly only Henrik Larson beat Lee Boylan, but he plays in Scotland!

Stu M, we have had more than fifteen minutes of fame recently. We had two hours of LIVE TV fame on Sky when winning the Trophy final in 2001 and two hours of LIVE TV fame on BBC 1 Match of the Day LIVE winning the 2nd Round FA Cup tie.

Interesting about the obsession comment with no less than 4 members from Gravesend being attracted/obsessed enough to want to comment on this thread. Listed in date posting order they are:- 1) Richard C with 4 posts 2) Dave GNFC with 5 posts 3) Gazza701 only 1 post and 4) Stu M again with 1 post.

From what I can gather, Gravesend could be in for a sticky spell what with injuries and players leaving willy nilly. Although we are not exactly setting the world alight at present, it’ll be interesting come Christmas and the New Year to look at who’s doing well in each division. Good job Gravesend have accumulated the points they have so far. Could be Gravesend going down, and you never know, Canvey going up.

An if you asked Jeff King he would swap all of that to be where we are now!

And the original post was about which club????

Trouble is Phil you cannot see outside of your own narrow perceptions. Canvey were on the TV so everyone else must be jealous of us.

As far as most of us are concerned, you are now part of where we used to be not where we are now, and if your people didn't bother to post their disparaging comments about what is happening down in darkest Kent, you wouldn't see us here at all.

If one day you manage to join us in the Conference then the rivalary can recommence, but until then, enjoy your jaunts around the M25.

Sorry I have struck a nerve Dave but I believe Jeff King would not swap, what was it again, the Trophy Final win and the Match of the Day Live 2nd Round FA Cup win with being in the Conference. As a non league club, we have achieved just about all we can for now in the major cups and received as much national media exposure possible. The conference will come and still gives us a goal to aim for.

Not at all Phil, winning the trophy was a magnificent achievement, and if you want to compare footballing achievements, then I'm game.

Appearing live on the BBC- it would be nice - but it's not something that the club has any control over, it's a matter of luck. Unfortunately when we played in the fourth round of the cup there was no live TV, (That 5-3 at Roker Park would have made cracking TV)

Still Gravesend v Chester next April seems a good bet to be live on Sky.

Now if you will excuse me it's a long drive to Halifax tomorrow

I excuse you Dave. I was off to bed before you stuck another one on here!

Yes, should be a great game in April watching Gravesend fighting for their lives in their relegation battle. Could be the game that sends you down. Can already see Chester soaking up the pressure and stealing one or two off you, maybe more as you push forward, then lose all heart.
