Chris Kinnear continues to make changes to the playing squad and the Club confirms that Leon Braithwaite, Ellis Remy an James Corbett have all been released from their registrations with our Club.

The Manager is currently negotiating terms to bring in a loan goalkeeper for our game on Boxing Day to allow Charlie Mitten the rest time he needs to recover. Charlie recently had MRI scans of both his hips and his back but the results of these will not be known before the Christmas break.

Interesting new from club. I think Remy started off season well but did seem rather lazy at times. Corbett well we never saw & Leon guess he just needed to be closer to his work? Glad club are giving Mitten time to recover, lets hope goalie who comes in will be up too task!

Egan looked a bit dodgy in the Bromley game. Where did last years sub goalie go ( Turkish lad whose name I can't remember ) as he looked reasonable cover, always showed up and seemed like a nice fella. Think Corbett would have been promising but I for one won't miss Remy.

Nej was a good lad nice shot stopper but couldnt ever seem to keep hold of the ball, i dont think he is any better then Egan.

Shame we never really got a chance to see a full game from corbett could have been a good player in the long run if he could stay fit and avoide any injuries wich have plagued his career.

Shame about Remy started so well and looked dangerous when he comes on as a sub, but he did have a tendency to fade out of games and sky some sitters but that just seems to happen alot when players pull on a gate shirt <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I think the high turnover is due to the fact that we started recruiting players so late CK is in some ways shopping in the sales. For every successful acquisition, a few will fall by the wayside.

I am encouraged greatly by Saturday's win. A good effort over Christmas / New year and we should consolidate our position.

[color:"blue"]Glad to see that we are looking for cover for Charlie - can't fault him for his performances this season (& I admit I wasn't one of his fans before this season). His mobility may be in doubt, but his agility on Saturday certainly kept us in the points.

I have been advocating a loan replacement for some time now, not because he's been bad but because I feared his injury was not going to get better all the time he was injured.

I agree with Dave G4TW about Ellis, he did have a tendancy to disappear for large chunks of the game & didn't always put in the effort to match his ability.

Exeter Express & Echo

12:00 - 19 December 2005

New signing Anton Robinson booked Exeter City's place in the second round of the FA Trophy with a tremendous debut goal - and then revealed: "I would love to get a contract."

The former Millwall midfielder produced a piece of magic on the stroke of half-time to help seal a 2-1 win over Conference South side Bishop's Stortford at St James's Park yesterday.

Robinson was thankful to have been handed a shock place in the starting line-up after signing on non-contract terms on Friday following a trial at the club.

Now he has spelled out his desire to win a permanent deal at St James's Park and open a new chapter in his career.

"I have signed on a non-contract basis and, if I do well and impress, we will take it from there," he told Echo Sport. "I like the set-up, the lads are great and the gaffer has been good to me.

"This is a good club I want to spend a long time at. This was a dream debut for me and the goal I scored was definitely one of the best of my career."

The 19-year-old enhanced his hopes of an extended stay in Devon with a scintillating 20-yard effort that illuminated the first round Trophy tie. Billy Jones had put City in front with an early penalty before Robinson took centre stage.

But a goal from Roy Essandoh, and then a sluggish second-half display, left the Grecians clinging on.

Robinson added: "I really enjoyed the first half. We knocked the ball around, but it was quite hard in the second-half and it was backs-to-the-wall.

"The boys said in the dressing room after the game that we should have bossed the game after we went 2-0 up.

And if we hadn't conceded just before the half-time it would have been a very different second-half.

"But a win is a win and we are through to the next round."

Robinson, who can play in a central midfield or wide role, signed for Millwall at the age of 12 and was awarded a two-year professional contract in 2003.

But after becoming a regular fixture in the reserve team - coupled with two first team appearances - he was released by the Championship club at the end of last season.

Now he is desperate to resurrect his career and admits the welcome he has received at St James's Park has fuelled his appetite to secure a contract.

"The lads took to me the first day I came into training and that's the key because I have been to clubs where you don't always fit in.

"But here there is a really good bunch of lads and that is definitely one of the reasons why a player would want to come to this club."

Plus they are top of the conference!

I thought he was a very good player with that one appearance at home he made.He definately made a big difference to the midfield I thought. Obviously he wanted more & good luck to him I say.Dont know why he wasnt "hooked" whilst here but I am sure there must have been good reasons.Maybe our budget wont stretch to too many Bertie Brayleys, possibly. Possible higher wage demans, possibly his desire to go play in a higher league etc.It does seem a shame that there have been a couple or three players that would have fitted into this team for next years title challenge, especially with Bertie now signing, that have passed through the club instead of signing themselves.

I think when he says 'I have been to clubs where you don't fit in' he might be referring to us.

However with a 'big club' trial in the offing it's no surprise he did the minimum necessary to earn his pay while ensuring he didn't pick up a knock.

Also he comes from the south coast, so you would not expect him to relish playing this far away.

The interview reads more like a job application. Let's wish him luck, but one goal won't make him a local hero. I wonder how his team-mates will react to him bigging himself up in the local paper!

Not sure who Cookie means, but I would say Ryan was the only quality player we failed to keep and really as a left-sided attacking midfielder you can only say we have got double the quality in Brayley.

The little guy Sacha was ok, but would he have fitted into the current setup? I don't think so.

We missed out on Dryden, but I reckon CK will come up trumps with a goalscorer in January.

Andrew Burke seemed a player with a bit of know-how & I could see him improving had he been given the chance. He had that little EXTRA that some players dont have. When you see a player playing simple balls you just know he has been brought up the right way.
