Rom v Church.

Good old blood and thunder derby, the football played was few and far between, and the little that was played, was played by Hourchurch.I thought Romford played right onto their hands with too many high balls gobbled up by Golby and co.The decision to give the game to the women ref was a scandle. She did not decide the result but she did not help.I wonder if any lessons will be learnt from it,i doubt it.Hornchurch will keep picking up points if they win these types of games when not at their best. Then again their is more than one way to win a footie match.

being serious it wasn't pretty today but our boys do stick in there and they can win ugly....the ref was okay bless her...a few daft decisions but better than most we have had...she worked hard and tried hard

sometimes you have to win the hard way mate as you well know.........we want that championship trophy and we'll take the points whenever and however...

were you there..?....should have come said hello mate...

our fans were brilliant at the end when the urchins came off....

this particular game was always gonna be a one off....and never a classic...first ever league meeting 'tween the two...

You are quite correct that doughnut at your place the other week took some beating.I have no personal preference to whoever won the game yesterday, however some of the decisions she made was from such a distance she could not of been certain of what she gave. Her explanation for the pen was that the player did not get any of the ball. The ball nearly went over the fence!

yeah it was soft but still a pen...if the player tackles from behind and brings the player down without touching the ball its a free kick...(or in this case a pen) where the ball is going is irrelevant...

who cares anyway cider...as far as we are concerned it evens up the nonsence against stanstead when the numpty blew the whistle 5 minutes after the free kick had been taken....

'just gimmi the points and the refs great'....

venners...1990... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Not sure that you can blame anything on the ref not keeping up with play. The guy we had the week before against Sawbo was in the centre of the action from start to finish and still failed to see or deal with the stuff going on around him. The result was loss of control of the game and three red cards.

End of the day, I felt the best team won comfortably, but it was a shame that from behind my blue and gold glasses that the goals were a freak own goal and a penalty that no one appeared to appeal for! That aside, well done Urchins, look forward to seeing you again at the Bridge.

Back to the ref. Loved the bit where she was down on her knees doing her laces whilst a goal kick was taken leading to a break down the wing behind her. The ball was in the penalty area by the time she was back on her feet.

Finally, Uncle was dead right about the dissent. Couls easily have booked three or four players for things that were said and that is just what I heard from pitchside. This is where the lack of consistency becomes an issue. Some of the players think they can get away with what they were saying on Saturday, but risk a yellow card the first time they repeat those words in front of a strict referee.
