Looked very nasty. Apparently he slipped and whacked his head against the post. Has a nasty cut on his face and apparently he swallowed his tongue.

Looked in a very bad way but could be a lot worse.

I was behind the goal when he incident happened. Lee was trying to shepherd the ball across the line without touching it, and in doing so got his studs caught and flew head first into the post with an huge thump. It really looked bad, very similar to the way James Morrison looked in the Boro v Spurs game that was just on.

Wayne after said that Lee had come round fully, hopefully it will be safe for him to play against Grays, but if there's any doubt I hope we rest him.

Have had a SOUTHEND NEWSPAPER reporter phone me today, wanting to contact TOMMY MOORHOUSE and do an article on the way he dealt with Lee when he was in trouble on the ground before anyone else could attend to him.

You are quite right but perhaps our faithful hadn't realised it being at the other end of the ground to the incident - but we did have a hero in our midst on Saturday. Lee Boylan had actually swallowed his tongue and our Mr Moorhouse administered the correct medical attention to ensure no lasting damage. With their physio at a loss, the ref at a loss and other players looking on, Mr Moorhouse with the aid of the the ref's pencil, would you believe it, inserted said item into mouth of stricken forward and managed to pull tounge out thus unblocking the air waves. Mr Moorhouse wanted no praise for this act and indeed did not want to say much about it at all on the way home from the match but his quick and incisive thinking certainly saved Lee Boylan from a serious situation. Add that to the fact that he was probably our best player and I think we have invested in a good one here!

I knew it was pretty serious when Ben Chenery came running over to the press box and asked if there was a doctor in the ground then Sedgers asked if Lee's family was around. I had to admit I feared the worse and those few moments were extremely tense. Thank God for Tommy Moorhouse. Guy deserves a medal.
