"The Final Countdown" Theme Song

Am I alone in hating the song "The Final Countdown" that is played when the teams come out?

 

I feel that this is far from an uplifting song for the team and surely something better could be found to greet the teams entry to the pitch than this "durge of nothingness".

 

What do others think?

Must admit I liked Fanfare for the Common Man when it was played earlier in the season.

The team like it apparently. I would prefer to play either:

 

U2: Vertigo

U2 : Where The Street's Have No Name

Queen: One Vision

Guns N Roses: Welcome to the Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle - now that's a proper song to run out to for sure. Don't know if it would inspire the team but it would get me up for the game 100%!!!

 

Where the Streets Have No Name would be good too but as I say, anything to my way of thinking would be better than "The Final Countdown" - a song I consider awful beyond belief.

 

Could you not use your influence within the club to convince the team that it is more than time for a change of record then Yellow?

The lyrics are crap and do not in any way relate to anything to do with football, winning, history of the club, area, better days etc.

Halifax use it to run out to and it sounds superb. I'll see what I can do but not sure if the players will be up for a change.

I have always thought we should come out to Queens Princes of the Universe.

 

 

What about a sponsorship, or even a raffle everyone puts their song forward and a fiver, the song pulled out of the hat is the winners song and is played for a week/month/season.

 

The money goes to the supporters club.

 

I would suggest the song the players come out on to the pitch is important, if we are going to change it, make sure we have the players and fans on board or leave it (even though I hate it).

Hey I'm not that bad. Maybe it's best to leave well alone. If the players and management like it then fair enough.

To be honest the whole thing with Lee shook me up a bit so I just put a CD in and pressed play. Didn't really look at what I was playing.

I remember Welcome to the Jungle being played back in the Diadora league days. Should bring it back coz it suggests an uneasy time for the away team and confidence in our own surroundings for the home team!

Welcome to the Jungle is a magnificent record and it would be great if the club had this as a theme song. Paradise City too is a superb song (and my favourite GnR record) and this would be pretty AOK in my book too.

 

"The Final Countdown?" - have to say that I detest the song too and would be more than happy (delighted in fact) if it was put to rest by the club once and for all.
