Gladwish pulls the plug, because nobody will drive him!

It was always on the cards I suppose, that Victor Gladwish would stop putting his cash into the non league. But his excuses for doing so are weaker that his business proposition. Nobody will drive him, and GLS Football is making a loss - bit of a surprise that when you sponsor and entire league and about a dozen clubs!

Here is the story from the wonderful NonLeagueDaily website

Quote:
As has been rumoured around the circuit, Victor Gladwish HAS pulled the plug on his GLS Football company and, as a consequence, this will affect a good deal of non-League clubs.

A statement was issued to all those affected on Sunday and the following GLS Football contracted clubs are known to be seeking sponsorship elsewhere: Grantham Town, Forest, Loxwood, Horsham YMCA, Whitstable Town, Lymington & New Milton, Gravesend & Northfleet and Worthing, while Chatham Town have commented that the decision will seriously affect their youth policy.

The following will also be affected but have not commented as yet: Egham Town, Southend Manor, Pease Pottage and Harlow Town and Tony Williams publications.

As well as the clubs Victor sponsored, his decision will also seriously affect the Hellenic League, to which he was the major sponsor, Tony Williams Publications and, less seriously, the Non-League Paper.

Gladwish said: “Due to having had three cancer operations since August 2004, and with the last one being a tumour, I am not permitted to drive.

“I have struggled to find a driver since February 2005 and as GLS Football has lost £250,000 in the last two years it has been decided to close the company.

“GLS Football Limited regrets the situation brought about by illness and lack of drivers and GLS Football Limited wishes all concerned good luck in the future.”

He of course runs Worthing, but, also Lockwood a West Sussex League side ! Well they are only the pretend REBELS anyway ! Apparently it comes into force immediately so we can go back to calling Worthings ground Woodside Road again !
