Officals...

Is it me or is the standard of the officials in the league unbelievably poor!

Last week the LRMI goalkeeper bought down one of our players and should have gone off and the ref bottled it. The linesman seemed to have no concept of the off side rule, but at least he was consistent to both sides. The Margate game today, was it the same linesman, had no idea?

In addition, I understood that if a player receives treatment on the field that he must leave the field. Seems the ref does not know about this rule!

I think the FA needs to address the standard of refereeing in this league as it can cost clubs in this league money, which they can ill afford to lose.

Other than these minor niggles it was an enjoyable game and an incredible atmosphere. Well done to Margate. I hope that we can get some of our key plays back soon. I am counting the days to our next home match.

i stand in front of the seated stand, and that goal was about 5 years offside! the linesmen for that decision was a complete (censored) some margit fan who somehow was standing next to me there where was the stewards?? he knew it was off, he knew it, he knew it, he knew it!! What i noticed today, was that we are missing height up front, we want the beast!!! WIth him today, i think we would have beaten Margit, i think the game was fairly even today, shame it was spoilt by some appaling decision!!

to the lino- you're a fat (censored) and you should lose some weight and get fit so you can keep up with the game and know what the offside rule is!!

I agree we didnt go much on the Officals in the Ryman on occasions, but the standard in the Conference is pathetic to say the least.I happened to be having a quick coffee and was standing at the Margate end of our stand, I looked in front and thought, hes a bit offside if the ball comes to him, with that the ball came through, the linesman was to my left not even up with the play, when he scored and the ref didnt give it offside I couldnt believe it, Jimmy came over and the the linesmans response sounded something like, ER,ER UM !!.

I spoke to some of the Margate fans and though they were obviously happy, the could believe it either.

How many times this season do we have to play the other team and well dodgy officals.

What about Kinnears comment in the RK interview - "I obviously couldnt tell from where I was" - probably not untrue, but given Fordy's reaction ( a reaction from a man who is normally the coolest person in the ground) it must have been very offside ( & even Matt Davison said he stopped commentating and was amazed the goal was allowed).

I bet if the offside decision had been the other end, Kinnear would have seen it - the reaction very much suggests he knew it was offside as well.

Of course the officials are awful. You only have to watch match of the day and see some of the terrible decisions given in the premiership to realise its going to be a lot worse in non-league football.

We had a bad goal against us yesterday but if you ask the Chester fans they'll say we got away with one against them...everyone thinks the linesman is a cheat when really he is just incompetent. By the end of the season we will probably have as many for us as against us.

More worrying was that once again we created very little until we were two down and once again we failed to score from open play despite plenty of chances. Still you can't fault the effort put in and it was good to see Mark Bentley back in the side.

I thought that it was a close match and that despite the dodgy goal Margate probably just about deserved it..good luck to them at Orient.

Has anyone heard how serious the injury to Paul Sturgess is, it seems like he is never going to get through ninety minutes.

As the margit fan standing in front of the seated area, two things; the goal was offside (not five yards as in your report, but none the less offside by a yard or more). One of those things, if it had been the other way round we would be moaning just the same! Lifes full of [censored] and you have to get on with it.

secondly, what was the problem with me standing there?, no stewards required, friendly (upset) fans around me, good atmosphere, and a good view of the "goal".

I understand that segregation is on the advice of the police but you do wonder why they bother at our ground. A few bits of tape won't stop anyone who is determined to cause trouble.

At Hartsdown you had at least proper segregation facilities, although I have to say that my mother-in-law is still upset about being " treated like a criminal " even when it was explained that the cage was as much for her protection as it was to lock her up.

I do wonder on what basis the police make their decisions...I am not aware of any problems in the past between the Fleet and Margate fans and I am sure we all wish you good luck for the rest of the season other than against us. The only other segregated matches were Hereford and Doncaster which p*ss*d off some of their fans that they are assumed to be trouble makers. Dagenham are nearer to us than you, brought a lot more fans than you did, made a lot of noise too, everyone had a good evening and no trouble at all. The police didn't insist on segregation that night although there were van loads of bloody sinister looking policeman in black "combat" gear outside the ground.

Maybe now we are getting bigger crowds we are lucky that there hasn't been a hooligan problem but whatever happened to the innocent until proven guilty theory?

Completly agree that our bit of masking tape and a couple of stewards wouldn't segregate a bunch of determined 10 year olds. Don't know how much it would cost the club to knock up something more permenant. On the subject of who we segregate I had a couple of beers with Bob Gunton (head of security) on Sunday and was suprised how much thought and effort goes into this process. The club are in contact with various police intelligance units and also speak to other clubs that our next opponents have already visited. Apparently a couple of Conference clubs are followed by known hooligans who have been banned from league grounds. Obviously this sort of information has to be taken into account even if it seems to be a bit random.

The lino some what pissed me off in that game! Ah well never mind, See you all Boxing day for a game that will be as good as ever, i see the rivalry is building already! WE left Canvey behind, you've left Dover and Burton, so maybe there a new rivalry sparking up, lol!

Something I'd posted on here earlier. Good to see someone else with the same sense.

Incidentally, why can we still hear anti C****y songs on the terraces?

It's not as if we still sing about Shittingbourne, or Dartford for that matter.

Why? you may ask....well, as you pointed out FleetMan:

Because these teams are irrelevent to us now....

CI? Left behind.

The Shits? Ditto.

Sudbury? Billy Logan wasn't that big an issue.....!

Dartford? We're flatmates now (not strictly saying we HAVE to get on!)

Dover? Missed that opportunity as we switched leagues.

Hmmmmm........in true Rolf style:

Can you tell who it is yet.....?!

I was ejected from Upton Park in 1974 for swearing....I asked why they didn't eject the other 6,000 people singing the same song !! ahhh how times change...needless to say that I didn't get an answer....anyway...no cameras then....at least I walked past Ron Greenwood and Geoff Hurst ( if I remember correctly ) before going down the players tunnel !!...the ironic thing was that I got back in....oh the impetulence of youth !!

So perhaps I am Public Enemy number one ? ( I doubt it !)...just a sad fat B'stard who doesn't like being filmed !

Happy days !

I like most of you feel that the standard this year has sunk to lower depths than we thought possible, the chap reporting for Radio Kent could not believe the second goal was given, he said he is clearly off-side the goal cannot be given, but oh yes it was.

We were not good on Saturday and Margate had the better chances for most of the match, but again a really dodgy off-side goal leaves us out of the cup.

The linesman was so far behind play during most of the match he was a joke, and the player who decided to leave his footprint on Matt Lee's stomach , did not even get a verbal warning. Each referee seems to have his own way of handling things,as has been said before, some players go off the pitch when injured, some do not, some players get booked for swearing, some do not, its no wonder we get cheating, with players diving all over the place trying to get others booked.

Pehaps full-time referee's is the answer, but having seen some of them on TV perhaps not.

Still I will be at Halifax on Saturday, hoping for a good game and a good team of officials.

U is well right. Refs & linos have cost us points vs Yeovil, Dagenam, Doncaster, Stevenage,...(the list goes on..). Vs Leigh & Margate they went too far. Leighs 'keeper should have got a straight red for taking Tostao out, and Margates 2nd goal, the scorer was about two or three yards out. Come on F.A, this is unacceptable [color:"red"] [/color]

So............on the basis of all these posts you'll all be getting in touch with your local Referees Association to let them know you can do the course and be better than those you watch every week

I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms
