We were great. Everyone worked their socks off and we thoroughly deserved our win. Canvey did surprise me though as they have been really good whenever I have seen them, and yet the only times they looked dangerous today was from their long-throw's I thought.

It was a great team effort, but just wanted to mention that Veli had a superb game today. Kept Minton and Protheroe quiet and was everywhere.

The scenes at the end were great and it was a good crowd. Canvey fans were also great and credit should go to them. Shame about one druken lightweight who was at the Canvey end though who thought it was funny to mess about with our lawnmowers at half-time. Nice to see later that he was so drunk he fell over a step, so he got what he deserved!

Great gesture from Dominique with his T-Shirt at the end of the game.

Well done lads.

Just one last thing. Not many people know, but Joe Cole (yes that one and i'm not joking) was at today's match in one of the stands. Are we about to pull off the signing of the century? or was he simply just there to watch Canvey's Bertie Brayley who he played in the West Ham youth team with?

Well we can hope

Message said 'For Steve Browne'.

The Rebels were superb yesterday and the final scenes were fantastic. At first I was a bit annoyed at the draw; so much work and then the possibility of going out in the First Round Proper with very little recognition; but in thinking about it properly, what a great chance to progress to the Second Round, a feat never achieved by this club before (I believe). Just thought I'd run through what I thought of the team.

1. Jean-Zepherin ... 8 ... Did what he had to do well, no chance with the goals, looks better with every game.

2. Palmer ... 9 ... Strong at the back and also provided good support going forward, when I heard the teams I was pleased he was back.

3. Howard ... 8 ... Again provided good support going forward and was assured at the back.

4. Browne ... 7 ... Probably our weakest player but still did well to hold off the threat of two strikers from the division above, one of which started at Ipswich, useful distribution.

5. Barrowcliff ... 9 ... Great distribution, great forward running, great enthusiasm, great skipper basically, his covering ain't half bad either.

6. Hakki ... 9 ... Although he may not be around for the First Round, no one looked like they wanted it more today, workrate was phenominal.

7. Bubb ... 10 ... Up until Tuesday I didn't like him but he has put in two great displays this week, ran Canvey ragged, they had no one that even rivalled his pace and skill.

8. Spencer ... 8 ... Not far off his best performance for us, worked tirelessly, combined well with Hakki and also got his foot in a bit, something he hasn't done in recent games.

9. Winston ... 9 ... Workrate was awesome, nuff said.

10. Boot ... 9 ... Like Bubb, wasn't sure about him at first but what a great finisher he's proving to be, forgetting the one he missed shortly before his first goal he showed some great front work again and the winning header was brilliant.

11. Gilkes ... 8 ... Linked well with Barrowcliff, gave his all, got beaten by their number 11 a couple of times early on when he kept coming inside but overall a good performance by the old timer.

I really annoy myself when I write really long bits on this forum but the game today deserved a good write up so there it is. I promise I won't write again for at least a week.

"I promise I won't write again for at least a week." - Thank god for that

Excellent performance yesterday from everyone. Simply put, there was no weak link yesterday, everyone battled, fought and battled again harder.

Let's just make sure we put in a similar performance in the next round to ensure all this hard work doesn't go wasted. I'm sure those from Harrogate Railway will be thinking exactly on those lines also.

No, we beat Millwall then lost to Stortford in the 2nd round I think you'll find.

Just seen a bit about the 2 Harrogate clubs on Sky Sports News, Railway think they can beat us, but are "disappointed with the draw".

Haven't we got to the 2nd round 4 times ?? I think Swansea , Leyton Orient and Yeovil back in the late 70's besides Stortford . I could be wrong but sure it is 4 times . But this talk on the 2nd round must wait . Look what Totton did !!

Yes you are right we have been in the second round on a few occassions, and if we play like we did against Canvey we really ought to beat Harrogate Railway, that would give us a platform to progress from,as long as we keep moving along the right lines and don't appear stationary, should be just the ticket lol.

Joe Cole was at the game because he wasn't playing until sunday, Ellis is his best mate aswell. Well done Slough! You WILL hammer that railway team aswell, then 2nd round is where the div 1 teams come in.

No Wayne my choice of words was quite deliberate. I dont get in my car on a Saturday thinking I might go to the Park, I get in knowing I.m going to go there. Its pointless even going out on the pitch if you dont believe your going to win.

For Info 1st and Premier teams are exempt to the third round. 44 exempt teams plus 20 winners from second make up the third round draw

Sorry (without starting a silly argument!!!!) , it's the way you said it . You say 'when we beat them' says that we are . Every sportsman goes out with the intention to win or like you said it's pointless being there . Having belief and actually winning are two different things . We can go out with all the belief that can be possible , don't mean we'll win .

I don't think you really realise how good the Slough squad is this season. Browne has done a very good job finding these players. Most of the players are still young and about 90% of the squad have either been pro's or at pro clubs. A lot should not even be playing at this level eg. B.Bubb, Hakki, Winston, Boot........The list goes on. Slough have got to be disapointed if they don't get to the 2nd round or get promoted. I think they will do both. Have you sorted out a ground for next season yet?

Dream on, Have you seen our goal tally in the F.A Cup this season? 29 so far including 4 each against Workington and Marine who are in leagues above us. We also dumped out Whitley Bay last seasons Vase winners.Hope we are sowing a few seeds of dowt. We`ll be down in force and wait until you hear the noise our juniors make. See you soon! [color:"black"] [/color]
