Burton

Sounds like yet another solid, no nonsence display today. According to Chas, Craig had another great game, as well as the defence holding firm against a fine attack. 1 goal conceded in 4 league games tells it all. It is slowly but surely coming together.

Well done Fleet.

Good result, shame about Ross but good to see Skins back in the side.

It sounded like Coleman was pretty lively again in the first half and Craig made some good saves.

I hope Charlie is ok for next week. We seem to be putting in some solid performances but we could do with a bit more upfront either from the forwards or someone breaking from midfield.

just got back from burton. what a great ground, if gravesend can get something like that i will be very pleased.

Performance wise, craig was man of the match 3 or more fleetastic saves. coleman wasnt as good i thought today and we really do need a forward.

Least it will be a nearer journey next week to east thurrock than today, 4 and half hours to get up there i think.

Just got back from an impressive, cheeky, Burton Ground.Still for 6M quid it should be good. Away fans have their own Bar and Snack bar and the game is "live" on a TV. We were in the Coors away stand.

Stewards were friendly. Well the ones I spoke to. People seemed to be enjoying their Pukka Pies and the tea was ok for a £1. Although served by the usual shy but surly youngsters in the snack bar.

Pitch was boggy in places and cut up from recent encounters which caused the ball and studs to get stuck for both teams. Players must have been tired after the match.

It was a game of 2 hoofs. Lots of long and high balls from both teams but majority of play in the first half was in the Burton end. Burton attacked on the break but great defending from our boys kept them at bay. I spose there could have been a shout for a Burton penalty too. Their player stayed up so not given. Burton did have a couple of half chances but failed to find the target.

Much the same 2nd half although Burton I think started brightest. We defended well and Craig was solid. Dodgy back pass near the end could have been a disaster for us but luck was on our side. And IMO the ref too.

Well done boys. You battled hard. Coleman and Drury worked hard too and nice to see Skins again. Slatter came on for Charlie as I assume he was injured.

Man United will have trouble on that pitch tho.

A good point won. And a new stadium ticked off my list.

I love our club. Dont you?

CTT x

We were poor, so were they - Daish can claim a point away is a good return, fair enough but the aimless long ball that came back yesterday was poor.

Coleman looked disinterested, Brad Johnson looked tired - the only plus point was Hodgson looked alright and Holloway kept it from being 4-0.

If we play like we did yesterday at East Thurrock we'll lose.

An understatement - letting Manny go, while already looking a risky decision with our strikers currently including only two players actually belonging to the club, could really come back to haunt us if Charlie's out for any extended period of time.

The standard was pretty poor from both sides, but the fact that Burton created more chances meant they deserved to win it if either side did. Even normally reliable players weren't quite on the top of their game yesterday, with Holloway our man of the match by a long way. 10 points from the last four games, then, despite the fact we probably only deserved four or five. As I've said before, it's said that picking up points without playing that well is the sign of a good side, but you do wonder how long this pattern can go on for.
