it was 1-1 and the 22 man punch up involved one bad tackle by a romford player which led everyone to have a little coming together where nothing happened but the ref saw fit to send 2 sawbo players off and then 5 mins later romford had a player sent off for retailation

Three sending offs and a couple of late yellows. Sounds like a filthy game, but nothing can be further from the truth.

 

Not a lot happened in the first half. There were a couple of late challenges, with the occasional bit of afters, but nothing unusual or out of hand by ESL standards. Unfortunately the ref failed to acknowledge these incidents. A word in a players shell to say "I saw that now just get on with the game" followed by say a yellow if anyone failed to heed the warning. As I say, unfortunately the ref took no action. It was obvious that when the ref finally produced a card, someone was going to feel hard done by.

 

Second half and a bad foul by a romford defender which was to lead to the yellow card it deserved. I say eventualy as before the ref could act half the Sawbo side ran to remonstrate. This led to Romford to a man reacting and almost the rest of the Sawbo side joining in as well. I take exception to the description of a 22 man brawl, not least as the Sawbo keeper only got as far as the half way line!!

 

Now with so many bodies in the way, it was impossible to see what was really happening, but it looked to me like pushing and handbags. The ref spoke first to the nearest lino which clearly failed to nail what had happened as the rsf then spoke to the second lino who was about 50-60 yards away. Quite why he bothered was beyond me as that lino had not been very good at spotting what was happening 10 years in front of him in the first half.

 

The outcome the two red cards for Sawbo and a yellow for the original foul. Five minutes later and Romford were down to 10. No arguments, it was the classic ball gets trapped under a player on the ground and there is a mixture of stamping and kicking. He deserved to go, but you have toask what goes through a players mind. You have a two man advantage, you are a goal down, but you have plenty of time on the clock. What could help your team more than getting yourself sent off by a ref now struggling to assert some authority on the game. Well maybe just walking away could help more, but I think you know what I mean.

 

Anyway, a late equaliser and points were shared. Fair play to Sawbo they worked hard and chased a second to kill the game off after the red cards, but I think a point apiece was just about the right result

 

Shame all the headlines will be about the man in the middle and the sending offs.

Easy tiger- I get I nose bleed when I get to the edge of the area- Farf to far to run. Like I always say I am not running 60 yards to push someone like a tart. If I run it is to actually do something. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. All that hangbags.
