Missed him so much yeterday - still no confidence in J Smith but that isn't helped if your manager stands in the technical area slaughering you all game.

James has come on really well in the past few games. Whether that has anything to do with Ross and his calm head is something to be considered, but from what I heard about Saturday, James made some good clearances and the whole defence, and Craig Holloway especially, kept us in the game.
Don't forget, before he came in for Paul Macca, James had only played in 1 game for us, and that was the 6-1 defeat at Grays. Not a great confidence booster really, is it?

From my vantage point, about 15 yards from the pitch, all J Smith got all game was verbal from his manager - that won't make any player increase in confidence. In one instance we were defending a corner and J Smith turned round to respond to the "advice" being given to him as the ball was in the air.

What the report or Liam didn't mention, though, was the overhit backpass from James Smith that Holloway did very well to scramble off the goal-line - just going to show that one's own eyes at the game will always be more reliable than the media's take on things. Admittedly, he's improving, along with Gooding, but I can only assume that the fact Liam seems to single them both out for special praise each week, when players who have put in better performances aren't mentioned, is a ploy to boost confidence.
