Why DO you go to HDP?

Recommended Posts

Following on from the exteremly long thread about the Heybridge defeat and usual debates. The question is asked why go to HDP?

a) once a supporter/follower you should not support your side just when they are winning!!

B) as a supporter/follower of your own town side, how could you go anywhere else?

c) a lot of friendships are made at football and without the social buzz and interaction it would never be the same. (and cookie would have no one to talk to otherwise!!)

d) you always like to think that the team can win every game, even halfway through the second half of a game 1-0 down and not had a shot at goal all day, you still think its possible.

e) the highs far outweigh the lows even if they don't out number them and thats what makes football special

Up the gate!

I'll agree with you for once Ian on your summing up.I will even go so far as to say you may be correct in your point about me.It makes a change from ALL those I have to mingle and chat to at work & on the trains all day.As if there arent enough already.Of course you do forget to mention that some of us just want to get a break from the missus for a couple of hours.(just kiddin).

Chatting about the club & its players, who's come in, who's gone, what the latest situation regards the stadium etc etc who's on the teamsheet, whos at the game who's not. Is Standen playing again or not! To keep dad company(though he would go anyway). To read his programme once he's bought it. How many are in attendance etc etc. All are reasons why I go.

But the main reason is that it is MY own personal home town's team, the team I have grown up with over the years. Yes I go to see MY team, and yours of course but you will understand what I am saying.

To see them play a game of football.

Hopefully to be able to BOAST about a good performance or/and good result. Hopefully to see them triumph.

But more importantly, regardless of the result to see a good performance.

All your points all follow on from these adequately Ian.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the game on Saturday so that my weekly chat to people,of which I am so in need of,so it seems, will again make my day.

As June has said on many occasions,up until the last few years, despite having attended for many,I wouldnt have known most of you at all yet now having got to know most of you I look forward just to meeting YOU too.(& having a chat.)l.o.l

Oh, I forgot having a lovely cup of tea or Bovril too. One that is always counted on to be well made by our teabar staff.

You go because you love the game. Yes it is a couple of hours away from the missus but it is primarliy to see a good game and hope it is made better if your team wins.

When you win, she knows she's in for good time that evening, if you lose, she'll end up giving you some TLC (as well). <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
