Updates tonight v Heybridge

Yes Mike it could be a lot worse. You could be doing the gardening or going shopping on a Saturday, and reading the adverts in the Gazette for the houses that would have gone up at Hartsdown had the supporters and the board not kept the club alive during one of the darkest periods in its history. You could even have been forced into going to Southwood......

I am as frustrated as anyone by our inconsistent form this year. Yes our player turnover is ridiculous, but CK was playing catch up from the start as we could not sign players until the season had virtually begun.

Also from my experience of watching a lot of it, the Ryman league is a competitive division which compares well with what i saw of the conf south - there is little to choose between them in my book.

CK is in the classic manager under pressure situation - he needs time and probably money, but has little of either. Football is a results business and ours are poor at the moment. No one however will convince me that a change of boss will help us at the moment.

Finally, just a different take on the alleged banter with critical fans - it shows he shares their passion in my view.

problem is tho if we keep loosing ignoring religation the attendance will drop lower and lower each week especally now its getting real cold, untill we get attendances like the other teams in this div. this would mean less cash less players in turn, its a catch 22 situation. to sum it up we cant $afford$ to loose anymore.

Heybridge are a neat, efficient team who pass the ball well and with accuracy, and have a very good understanding amongst themselves. They are very organised, and use the full width and length of their rather nice pitch (excluding the soggy bit at the goal mouths). I can understand why they are doing quite well in this league. They have obviously passed a lot further along the team building and consolidating path than us and it showed.

We, on the other hand do not have this understanding and organisation yet and this is exposing us. I do think we have talented players in the team, and you could see individual examples of this from ALL of them. The problem is the team thing - we are not stringing enough passes together, we play too narrow, and sometimes the players seem to lack a sense of what positions they need to be in to capitalise on opportunities as they present themselves. I also think we rely too much on the ball forward - Charlie and Adolph are on a hiding to nothing as they are normally surrounded by at least two defenders and cannot be as creative in the final third as I am convinced they have the ability to be.

As to the solution to this, I would say time and consistency in team selection, but at this stage of the season this is in short supply. Greg and Pat back fit would help, and pray to heaven that Anthony is not too badly hurt, and work on the midfield I reckon.

Thanks MargateFan for your assessment.

To the gloom merchants on this thread: don't despair. Our target this season is to stay up and we will.

Next season we will win the league with (hopefully) a few juicy local derbies included.

Thanks also Robert and Cookie for keeping us updated.

i like 100s of others will not stay away as i am a true blue fan and have been for 45 years. you have no right whatsoever to say that simply for airing my views( and i may add the view of many who do not come on this forum).ck had taken us nowhere but down for 3 years.all i hear is oh hes been loyal, so what, we would not be in a worse position if he had gone 2 relegations and a rubbish team in the ryman league.i will continue to air my views and attend matches

Quite right too SSS. I personally may not agree that changing the manager would help at this moment but even I am losing my patience now. There are many who do not come on this forum that think the same way as you. Thats what you said.Well there are others too that DO go on this forum that think that way but dont have the nerve to say so in case they are got at by the "CK no matter what" brigade.

Patience is something that I think we have all been giving but time IS running out now despite others continual remarks to hold fire for the improvement. Up until the week-end any loss we had was by the odd goal, now two games in a row with defeats by TWO goals. This team isnt improving at all. If anything its getting worse. How much longer do we have to wait.

Very soon,if things dont pick up I like others may begin talking your way.

Kinnear, its about time some improvement WAS made.Get it sorted please before we all start doubting your abilities, abilities that in the past couldnt be questioned but which now ARE being questioned.I want to see our manager succeed but one can only wait for so long before we become dissallusioned with things altogether. Come on Chris, for goodness sake dont let all the faithful ones down, especially. Sort it out!

Last we were beaten by a better team . They passed the ball very well using the full width of the pitch which was the size of HDP and in good condition. We also passed well at times but were always second best. We never sustained any periods of attacking football throughout the match. They were better tactically and could have won by more. For the travelling supporters who stand behind the opposition goal in anticipation of us scoring it really is a test of faith as they hardly witness any of the play at close hand.

JAMES,We attend because we love the club and we go to matches because of that. Through thick & thin we continue to support. We go expecting to see us triumph & to see a good game of football. If you had spent as much as some who go there you would expect just a little bit more for your money. We all know about the past difficulties that have arisen but that dosent mean we have to be happy with the way things are going. However we STILL go to the next game because we just love the club and want to pay an entrance fee to help keep that club stay alive. There is no harm in giving personal views, either way,on the particular performance of the day. Another game will come along and we hope it will be better than the one before.

Fans are the customers therefore they can get away with airing their views. CK is in a position where he should act in a civil way. However I will take into account that he may be as pissed off as we are but thats still no excuse for replying in the way he did.Its up to him to stop these kind of remarks being made by getting the team to perform, its his JOB to do that..A polite "sorry" would have sufficed. He should show more restraint.Without fans the club would fold,no doubt about that.Without the income the club couldnt survive and for him to ask a question like that,is way out of line.We know roughly what the team plays like normally but we dont stay away because we think its going to be another disaster. We continue to go DESPITE that, because we care and because we actually BELIEVE we CAN do a better job. Hope lives eternal but dont criticise those who criticise, because they are entitled to do so.WE are on a forum and not talking directly to the players or the manager so we should be able to express our views on here of all places.

Something HAS to start improving soon. Enough of all the excuses that "we should just be happy to be home" bit. That has passed and should be put down to history now. WE have to move on and we will continue to support the club no matter what but dont tell us we cant give our views on the performances both when they are good and when they are bad.Because if you look back to when we do give a good account of ourselves we DO praise. It works both ways but lately there arent too many opportunities to praise are there? WE want to see improvement and I dont think we are wrong to show our dissatisfaction when that improvment isnt coming about.I dont want to hear any more about "takes time in getting the team together" etc etc etc because we KNOW all that and do take that into account but we do have a right to air our views. The Manager should act as an ambassador for the club and show his professionalism under extreme pressure, under any pressure. He s a football manager and as such would have probably been EXPECTING some kind of criticism. To tell a fan, regardless of the fans dissatisfaction "why did you come then" will not inspire that fan to go away again. That is the wrong attitude to have and the wrong vibes to send out. Those fans put the time in to go places following the club and many of them put me to shame. We need to encourage them to go away and not to stay at home. Will we see YOU SATURDAY?

Your remarks above are as bad as CKs. No-one goes with the intention of "slaggng" people off.It only happens AFTER the players dont perform not before. The previous game is wiped away from memory and hopes are always high than an improvement is forthcoming in the next game.Alas we are not getting it,in fact it looks like we are going backwards not forward..Hence the dissatisfaction.(sorry for the long post..NO I'm not!)

On this Forum I keep seeing the team don't play together They don't play as a team. Well shurley this is down to bad management and not enough effort when training or the players are just too thick to listen. after all you keep saying we have talented players. If they are that talented it shouldn't be too difficult for them to show some consistency.Maybe the managment team has got stale and needs afew more ideas.

CKs comments were justified. People were saying he was rubbish and he responded rightly. If Margate are rubbish, why do they continue to bother turning up? If they are going to keep slagging the team off whats the point of them attending games?

this is truley your most idiotic post ever......

i see this as no diffrent than supporting a party that never wins why bother? its a matter of pride and passion, somthing you clearly know nothing about..

THe method of our play holds no surprises for the opposition and more often than not it is the opposition who seize the initiative. The way we play is predictable but presumably CK sees this way of playing as being the best in the long term

interests of the club's future success.
