Absolute quality today.

 

The second half was one of the best second halfs I've seen AFC Hornchurch play. And a good 3 points was won, too.

 

The tackles were flying and the Barkingside shots were too....over the bar... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

 

Don't know how they are second in the league, Pitsea gave us more trouble. Well I do know actually, they bully their way.

Was a good result today thought Steve King and Jordon had a fantastic game were very solid at the back - Billy Drake looked menacing when he came on - hope he gets a few more games. Great to see Charlie Bull playing - thought he should have played in the left mid field though and where are Ket and Shaun lately they don't even make the bench????

Was billy hollands goal in the 1st half offside?

 

a good battle though..one thing it showed is that ..afc hornchurch can battle with the best of them..i think barkingside will be a top four side this season..was a great save by there keeper from danny heale in the 1st half..

 

what was the attendance today?

443 was the attendance and I thought both disallowed goals were marginal but deffo ours was on and theirs was off.......:o)

 

great atmosphere and a rip roaring proppa non league game of footie....great credit to our boys and theirs for the 100% commitment...a few handbags around but thats what you would expect from a top of the table clash...

 

by the way cider..you need bins mate...he was well offside but holland wasn't..... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/alk.gif" alt="" />

 

loved the way your boy took his shirt off as he ran back to the halfway line as it all went quiet....

 

'easy easy easy' was the cry as the linos flag went up...... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

why didn't you introduce yourself to us....?

 

their injured player is fine by the way and nice to see them all in the bar afterwards having a drink together...

Trust me unc he was well onside for the goal.Missed the first ten minutes so cant and won`t comment re your dissalowed goal.I think we spoke after the game unc.I was with Timmy in the bar.

Billy Hollands go was not offside as he was behind Danny Heale when his shot was saved by the keeper.However we should have had a penalty in the second half when their centre half palmed the ball down from a cross from the right.The best incident in the first half was when their number 10 got a roasting by cowley/tiffin on the riverside touchline,quality tackling.A good physical game which on another day could have seen a few red cards.

I agree with that...its easy to say that tony (our ref) had a bad day due to all the stuff going on but on reflection I think all three officials had a good day and made some sensible decisions out there...

 

I spoke to them after the game and they were concerned that a few decisions were wrong....personally I can't see it under the difficult circumstances but good to see officials being objective after a game....

 

that was a hard game to officiate in...

I am not sure you would be saying that if not for the result.I feel and have said before the refereeing in this league is of a poor standard.The ref allowed two footed flying lunges and legbreaking tackles go buy.Yes they have a difficult job,and we know in this league that players do put a foot in.They, believe it or are allowed to make mistakes just like players are,however flags going up 2 seconds after the ball hits the net and some dangerous tackles being ignored does not inspire confidence.The only refreshing part is that thought that the may of made mistakes.Most of the other refs i have come across never made any.That i can handle.All that said personally i think a draw would have been a fair result and teams who win leagues turn those types of matches into three points.Well done fellas

The Linesman put his flag up *before* the striker took the shot, it wasn't until after the c0ck run off with his shirt aloft that the ref saw the lino's flag.

Agreed, I thoroughly enjoyed today's game, especially on the back on the poor performance the other week against Soham.

 

I think it was always going to be 1-0, though at the end of the first half and beginning of the second, Barkingside were looking more and more confident.

 

May I just add that having attended a few games, how much I enjoy the atmosphere at Hornchurch, and particularly the way the players interact with the fans. Great stuff.

 

Finally... whoever decided to stock Hobgoblin deserves a special thumbs up. Thanks.
