This is the positive and realistic views we need yes it would be nice to out of this league and in the next but we are here. Next season will be the one for us but the foundations are being laid down now anf hopefully we have 50% of next seasons league championship team now.

Cookie, I pointed out that the pitch was in poor condition and that East Thurrock deserved their win because they adapted to the conditions far better and more quickly than we did. We lost to a better team on the day. I am sure that anyone watching would agree with me.

The previous away game at Windsor was also played on a poor pitch but we came away with a win.

The playing conditions do affect the way a team can play. For instance the way we played at Windsor was different from the way we played against Hampton and Richmond.

The crucial point being how quickly and how well you adapt to the conditions.

I agree with Taffy and TonyM. Debating what went wrong on the day is quite different from dissing the manager. To say he 'does not seem to have a clue' is a ridiculous statement about a man who took us from nowhere to conference football and has stuck by us through thick and thin.

As it happens I would also favour 4-4-2, on the basis that we haven't got a Duff or Robben in our team. However, Mr Kinnear has a better record in football than I do.

I was wound up before, when we conceded not one but to early goals; and then to read a few posts above that ETU warmed up whilst the ref. got attention, whilst we loitered really begs a few more questions about the preparation;when we then go and immediately concede another goal from the restart.

As Chris says, it may be only be psychological ,but it did not do ETU any harm did it.

I thought it siad somewhere Tony that game stopped for about 15 minutes which is a long time available to lose concentration ,and it seems as though we certtainly succeded in losing concentration.

I know the guys don't get paid fortunes, but there are one or two fundamentals to the game and concentrating and playing for a full 100 minutes or whatever, is pretty basic stuff

OK,OK,so for a time out on the pitch they were doing this and that,we were doing nothing, are you telling me that cost us the game, come on now I dont think so do you, players DONT loose there concentration by warming up.Have a chat with the Boss, have a pee, talk about what is going on in the match, but please dont say just because we did not warm up cost us the game.

i cannot see how anyone can imagine this post is anti ck or anything else, it looks to me like a post reflecting on what peoples views are, surley we are allowed our own views without them being twisted.

tony i think you are exagerating what MM said about warming up the way i read his post it seems to me that he feels it was one of many factors that caused what happend on the day.

Whoa there! Let's keep it in proportion. That was just one issue, and everyone is entitled to air their view. Personally I think our slow starts need looking at, which is the point I have been making on this thread.

The bigger picture remains that the club is paying off its debts and the commercial development looks to be going ahead to the satisfaction of the investors. We have a brilliant management team who are capable of taking us to the conf and beyond. Our fans are top class, as shown by home gates and away support. What more could you ask for?

Also by the way this forum is one of the liveliest and most interesting outside the league.

We are also obviously the most intelligent supporters in the ryman-try singing that !!

I similarly thought this thread provoked fairly interesting proper footballing debate, and even managed to stay 'on topic' for over one whole page, which i guess is what the forum is all about

I wouldnt be too despondent with the defeat.
The playing conditions and the actual pitch were very poor and made it difficult to play good passing football, totally unlike our superb Hartsdown pitch. East Thurrock made an excellent start and never looked like losing and deserved their win. They adapted to the conditions from the kick off far better than we did although we did show a spirited fight back when Dean Standen and Hasim Deen came on. Hasim scored a terrific header and Dean Standen started many promising attacks with some excellent passing.
For the spectator it was very good entertainment .
It was just one of those game we were not going to win.

I dont wish to make an argument out of this Zuchov as I have the utmost respect for your views but you do say in the first line that we should not be to dispondent and then you go on to say the pitch was poor and made it hard for us. My point is that it should have made it hard for the opposition too and that your first line intimates that that may have been a deciding factor whereas it shouldnt have been.I was not there so I can only comment on reports from others that were there but even so a raggardy pitch is not a reason for winning or losing. You also stated that they adapted better to the conditions and that is more or less the same point in making. Equal start on equal ground for both teams. We must therefore learn and learn quickly that we should be prepared for the worst kind of conditions as well as the best.I didnt mean to offend but was just stating my beliefs compared to yours. Its healthy to have different opinions anyway.
I do however take the point about those conditions but they shouldnt be aligned to the result and our loss.

we have put in mayme 2 decent performances all season( fisher and richmond) i dont expext us to be worldbeaters but we surely must expect to see better than we have.i am not saying ck should leave but the whole team need to stand up and be counted.apart from one or two they are not good enough and dont work hard enough.some of you may be happy to watch apathy in action but i will say what i think we all pay our entrance money and are entitled to our say

Cookie I dont think we are disagreeing!

The difficulty for the team is that we have the excellent playing surface at HDP which(if we are good enough) enables us to play passing football

whilst when we go away the playing surfaces of many of the away grounds is really poor meaning that we cannot play a passing game. So we have to be able to switch from one style to another. Unfortunately at the moment the team has not developed enough to do this successfully because we are in the beginning stage of rebuilding.

Let us hope the team will put on a better performance tonight despite the pitch!
