Heybridge 0 Billericay 0

I thought this was one of the better of our too many draws this season.

Our injury list is longer than King Dong's thingy with Gary Henty the latest added to the list.

First half Wozza hit the post and Matt Game went close and second half both Nathan and Hockers (who started on the bench) went narrowly wide. Heybridge did have some good chances too and overall I think both teams will probably be reasonably happy with a point.

My MOM goes to Millard, easily his best performance for us with a number of decent saves and some confident handling in difficult conditions.

Millard

Tarks Pat Trotty Kerrigan

Simmons(Bourne) Game Ryan© Collins

Nathan Tom(Hockers)

snu: Dale, Drake, Axcell

injured: Lay, Henty, Hunter, Dormer, Macca, Ross.

I’ve given yesterdays game a great deal of thought and came to the conclusion that I am very pleased with our current squad. Obviously I would liked to have won, I realize we had goal scoring opportunity’s which weren’t converted, and that we did not create enough good chances.

But, imo, any team, with the exception of Chelsea, that has five of their normal first team starters missing, playing in a local derby, away from home, for the second time in a few weeks, in a game that is still carrying baggage from the previous meeting, and gets a 0-0 draw, gets my praise.

During the time that I have been involved at Billericay, imo, we’ve not previously had a squad with the strength in depth, that had both the ability and mental strength that was shown yesterday, and this was no one off derby performance either, the way in which we battled back to get a draw vs Worthing shows that we now have a strong squad.

Those two results have shown me that our youth policy was the right decision, and just how far we have progressed in a season or so.

Well done lads <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

Well it's "bare bones" time and no mistake - by my reckoning we have just 14 players (including 2 keepers) available that have played in the league this season... The commitment and workrate were good and we tried to play some football on a v heavy pitch. Dave Collins again caught the eye on the left, whilst I was impressed with Wozza's "engine" - he made a number of gutbusting runs to get back and help out the defence when we lost possession.

Any news on when we'll be getting the injured players back?

I would concour with the depth of squad...when players are back from suspension and injury, it'll be interesting to see what we do in the league...I'm sure that we'll soon be putting together a run of results to challenge for a play off spot...and with Hampton and Fisher stalling, who knows what will happen.

Not a great match to watch, especially due to the horrible weather, but a good performance with us. Id say we just shaded it on the balance of play, but didnt have enough goalscoring opportunities. Closest we came was a fantastic Warren Ryan effort from the edge of the post, that i thought for all the world was in, but clipped the post. Apart from that our best chance was Danny being clean through and putting a good left foot effort just wide. Heybridge had chances too and i think a draw was definately the fairest result. Hard earned point, well done guys.

Sounded like another hard fought draw. Still it is good to see Justin rewarding Sean Axcell and James Drake by putting them on the bench along with Billy Colton the other week.

This experience for them will make them stronger aswell as adding depth to our squad. Players like Simmonds, Poole and Stannard did the same last season and this proved very effective.

Once we have everyone back i agree with the majority of comments that we will have the depth to challenge.

My first gamne in awhile, To be honest i thought we were hard done by, we fought for everything and created some very good chances by playing outstanding football on a very tough pitch...heybridge's only chances came the same way they did in the FAT with one swift foot through the ball and a chase from the strikers, all though second half they did improve...i thought millard was alot more confident in goal, Nicholls was counting his lucky stars after seeing wozza hit the bost and Elder and Hockton miss by inches!

Very good performance by the blues!

MOM - Millard

if we can continue to play football on saturday im sure we can do east thurrock again, edinburgh will remember how easily we carved them apart by playing good football! Tuesdays game will be much tougher i think, We got some big games coming up so ill happily take 4 points over the next week.
