Seats in the Plough End

Only if you don't mind the people seated behind you bellowing at you "Sit Down", when you are standing gnfc superb

Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if the Club could be fined if everybody decided to persistantly stand-up in a designated seated area.

Something tells me the Stewards will quickly clamp down on anyone trying to stand-up.

Wonders if the Club will splash out and have rows of red seats and then white seats arranged so that it reads "THE FLEET" behind the goal. Might look quite smart.

It may well do but I'd think because of the new ground, well that money used on aranged coloured seats (if it does costs xtra ofcourse ) would be better spend on a stadium we are going to use for 100+ rather than 7 years max.

Plus that project no doubt needs every penny it can get.

That's exactly what Fulham are doing.
Prehaps if we give the away suport some of the side terracing then we could stand in the away end? (covering it as well)

I'm sure the money spent on the seats will from an entirely different pot fronm that of the new ground.
Let us just get on with install the seats, get bums on them, and move on. At least the ground is going to be improved short term.

That said, it'd be interesting to know why it took so long for the club to find out that terracing at the Northfleet end wouldn't be viable.

Looks like a good view of the whole pitch when standing (i.e. that which is only really available at the Swanscombe end) will only be on offer for a handful of games a season (i.e. those that aren't segregated then). Oh well. It won't stop me from going, but while Fleetman is quite right to say that not attending games because of a lack of atmosphere or not being able to stand in the Northfleet End is a pretty lame excuse, it's clearly an issue that could keep attendances down, as Jimmy says.

I personally hate sitting down at football, like the away end at Stevenage. When I go to Upton Park I always go in the Centenary Lower in the back seats because no-one sits down. Go on to Conference TV and watch the intro, Roy Essandoah banging one in right in front of a packed Plough End,it looks superb. I just hope that when the new stadium is built they have terracing behind the goals, I really do.

It's good that there will be no extra cost to sit at the Plough End. As I was wondering what would happen with un-segregated games! As I would be rather pissed off if I would have to pay extra to sit down for 90 minutes and only actually spend 45 minutes at that end. I had visions of a Stevenage ground where I suspect that all games are segregated, as the away end is all seated.

This might make the main stand more empty though! Why pay extra to sit in the main stand when you can sit in the Plough End cheaper?!

After yesterdays game, I have decided that I am totally against the Northfleet End being all seated........why?

If it remained terraced hopefully it means that the pillock with the drum and the inane singing would go away from the Stonebridge Road stand.

So if the drum is moved then that will make you happy?

Seeing how Scott said this will happen may I suggest you seek counselling to deal with this new found feeling?

I suppose you're one of the boring old farts that prefers to moan at the players rather than get behind them aren't you? We don't wanna be down that stand with the likes of you anymore than you wanna be with us, but we don't have many other options at the moment do we?

And Scott, I ain't sitting down.

hehe, guess who that is giving Roy the high-fives?? I totally disagree with seating for the Plough End. If it's one thing I amongst many enjoy at the Fleet, it's games like yesterday when the team work hard, and the fans really give it some noise! That was every Saturday with the Plough End, and putting seats in there would crush any prospects of the 20-30 really noisy fans getting behind the goal (which is also effective and gives the strikers a little bit extra). Fair enough, it makes us eligible for the LDV, but aren't there any other ways round this? I'm not sure about costs, but how about half-terracing the PloughEnd and half-seating it?? And then maybe extending the roof on the Stonebridge Road end and putting a few seats in there? Seats in the Plough End would nearly kill the atmosphere

Being a Ploughender, I was a bit taken back when I first heard the news that my beloved piece of terracing up high to right of the goal as you look from the pitch, will be no more.

But as it goes ,now think it aint a bad idea. As long as our stewards behave themselves.

Rumours are they will also be supplying tartan blankets to entice the halfway line round.

Well said John, football just isn't the same when you watch it sitting down, it is also much harder to get youngsters interested in coming if they have to sit still.
At least there are still plenty of area's in the ground where we can stand and I certainly hope the new ground won't be an all seater.

Logically, a new stadium would be an all seater!
As you progress up the Leagues, which is everyones dream, you have to go in that direction, so why not from the start?
