Safety Matters

Recommended Posts

As I posted a while ago I been invited to the next Safety Action Group meeting to "represent" the views of supporters.

This is hopefully an opportunity to feed in to the debate about how "our" safety is managed at the Fleet.

If you have any views or comments either good or bad on the safety measures/management that is undertaken on a matchday then please let me know.

I for one have views on the decision to close the Northfleet end and on occassion the stewarding arranmgements.

I would be pleased to receive as wide a cross selection of comments as possible before the meeting that is due to take place at the ground on the morning of 9th December.

I will provide feedback on the meeting in due course.

I still think the confiscation of cans of drink and bottle top lids at this level is laughable.

Hmmmmm, drink my drink or throw it at Maamria?

Oh.....easy decision, Maamria will fall to the ground without anything or anybody making contact with him.

Seriously though, the biggest issue for most people is THE PLOUGH END.

I would like to know why the club cannot increase the number of fire/emergency exits to the ground.

Our capacity is limited to 4098 because of this - although we know from games against Notts Forest and Canvey that we can get up to 6000 in without huge crushing.

Add a couple more one way exits then that dream home replay against Man Utd or Chelsea next year could become a reality.

I thought the Canvey game proved we couldn't cope with 6,000 to be honest, 4,000 looks like a reasonable limit.

Apart from the obvious problem that it took ages to get in, I thought we were OK with the Canvey attendance (whatever it was) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

4098 it was, Ronnie. Everyone from club will tell you that! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Exactly the figure I was thinking Gary <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

How about it's all a load of Bo****ks

I go to loads of away games and their conccrete is in a far worse state than ours at that end - its just a case of our local busy-body safety officials are a lot more stringent than those in other areas

or....... perhaps they weren't offered the right sized bung as those in other areas ?

The only problem with the Canvey game was leaving the environs of the stadium. Took me 3 minutes to exit the ground - 45 minutes to get my car from where i parked it to Swanscombe hill.

Perhaps you should recommend that the club build a new road or something, Gary. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Certainly, the decision to declare a terrace that had been in a similarly decrepit state for at least a couple of decades unsafe was a little bizarre.
