....it tolls for??

In a leading national newspaper today, there is reference to Sam Allardyce who sends his assistant Sammy Lee into the referee's room one hour before kick-off with the team-sheet, rather than go in himself. According to the paper, Sam is not alone "..in this imperious practice first started by Sir Alex Ferguson. Most big-nmae managers do it although Alan Pardew, Harry Redknapp and Gerard Houllier are rare exceptions who prefer to meet the ref themselves."

Strangely, there is no reference to The Mighty Saints.

Now, I've nothing against Hertsblue and I wouldn't want to overburden Colin Lippiatt who will be heavily engrossed plotting the downfall of that day's opponents. However, according to rumour, that chap who does the team-sheet thing is getting £50,000 a year and if we could save that money, we could afford another Tom Beech. Err? Ummn? You know what I mean.

Colin. When you come out of our changing room at the Fortress, it's the first on the right after about 3 yards, and the first door on the right after one. [yard.]

Better still. Send a sub!!
