was on a coaching course with him last week and looked at the first page of the forum i.e no107 and saw he scored 3 in first 4 games. how good was he? sounds like a real player. any comments?

hhhmmm....

 

right then...I signed taff as our second full timer in 2002 and he and jonesy scored 49 goals between then in that promotion winning season..jonsey top scorer by the odd goal and winner of the golden boot....taff bleated about it for a year...

 

 

taff was a brave and agressive centre forward who could hold the ball up well and play the mifdielders into the attack...he wasn't quick but had an eye for goal and was deadly inside the 6 yard box....

 

he scored some special goals for us but frequently got himself into trouble with refs and our managers for gobbing off...thats why GB was wary of him...his last game in an urchin shirt was against canvey under GH where he scored the first goal as we went 2-0 in front only to lose 3-2....(who scored our second)?

 

taff played for crystal palace in div 1 and wales under 21's and in my opinion was a wasted talent...he perhaps was his own worst enemy...

 

I loved the kids to bits and hope he's okay and still playing football...

 

his best goal for us was the 30 yard freekick that he swerved around the wivenhoe wall on easter monday.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Taff played against us twice last season BN1, once at Sutton, where he scored and then for Redbridge at Easter.

A smashing fella who gave 100% especially in inter club games. On one such cold night Taff played in long johns just below the knee, the game was refd by Tony ? and Taff nearly got it abandoned cos he wanted to win that much. Also playing for his place.

Has been to see us on many occasions including the game at Hayes earlier this year, I thought he was gonna re-sign, but nothing came of it.

WEll done Taff, wish you well.

BTW that other goal against CIFC was scored by Gavin McGowan from a Keelo pass at the sea wall end, Park Lane.

cracking goal from McGowan...I wonder if robs still got the video of it...I was having a ding dong with kingys old man at the time as he asked me to put me fag out in the stand and I told him where to go....said it was a health hazzard and I told him that the whole fckn place was so whats the difference.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I thought it was outside rather than in the bar. Emotions were running rather high that day.
