And, in addition, going to prove statistics can prove whatever you want them to:

Eddie's record:

P 134, W65 (48.51%), D21 (15.67%), L48 (35.82%)

Didn't we learn from the whole Kennedy Park fiasco that statistics can be manipulated in whichever way the compiler chooses?

The last 18 games do effect the future as they are in the time frame of the current season and we are moving into the remaining 24 games from 18th in the league.

This means that 17 teams are in a sronger position and even one of the ones below us have more games in hand.

This position needs to be managed by a strong and experianced manager and I dont belive Eddie fits the bill!

If Eddie goes, what do we have to attract the manager you want? I can imagine the advertisement:

Wanted - Manager for club in decline, no ground, currently tenants at dilapidated ground outside town. No funds for new players, likely to be directed to reduce budget not increase it. Playing staff lowest quality for years, lacking motivation and incentive. Current league position near bottom and falling. Fan base shrinking and becoming increasingly dissatisfied. Applicants must do better than existing staff with less resources.

How many applications do you think there will be from credible applicants?

I look at it this way, if you are the Chairman of a non-league football club looking for a Manager would you choose Eddie Denton? only honest answers please.

I suspect it would be easier for Eddie to get a better job than STFC than it would be for STFC to get a better manager than Eddie.

I suspect your right anon. If you bear in mind Dennis Greene got the Maidenhead and Chesham jobs despite his results and that Steve Browne managed to get jobs at Boreham Wood and Dover despite being the joint worst manager in Slough history I think Eddie's CV is looking pretty rosy in comparison.

I guarantee that if Eddie were to go we would get a worse manager.

Pound to a penny that the Observer quotes one of the three registered or one/two anon posters who want to see Eddie go rather than the sensible majority who want him to stay.

Having said all that football is a results business and if things don't improve I reserve the right to revise my position.

Yep - that's right. Just kidding.

In fairness I can see the point you and a few others are trying to make. But I just think to get rid of Eddie would be a mistake. We will just have to agree to differ.

Why not? He's shown his potential by taking a troubled club into the second round of the FA Cup and won the league cup.

When Terry Reardon was manager Slough were in dire straits financial and he also took them to the second round of the F.A.Cup, with virtually a side made up of local lads, some of whom were still playing Sunday league football as well as for Slough On the Saturdays.Yet not once did you come away from a game, saying "that lot aren't trying", the motivation always seemed to be there, and thats down to the man in charge.Fair enough Mr Reardon was a far greater player than Eddie, so this may have help with the respect and motivation angles.

Going by Eddie's track record for the club to date, he is the right person to be the MANAGER of this club.

Having said that, there are a couple of real concerns that I have:

1)Since the season started Eddie has brought in some players to bolster the squad i.e. Brooks, Wooderuff, McCleary. These are talented players who would be great additions to teams looking to add some flair to their squad.

I think Eddie's top priority should be players of the likes of Wilko & Mets who, when your not playing well, will show the grit and determination to scrap for every ball to grind out results.

Perhaps Eddie has been looking for these type of players and has had no luck? I would hope he's currently looking because IMO it's what we need.

2) Like some other people have mentioned before I've been disapointed and dismayed at what seems, on the surface, to be a lack of organisation and coaching when it comes to pre-game warm ups.

The Walton game was prime example. They are the away team and they were out way before us and they looked organised and determined. We stroll out one at a time, have a little kick about before doing a similar warm up to what we do before every game.

Then, what seemed like half way through the warm up Eddie appears on the pitch.

Given the position were in there just seems to be a lack of real urgency in this part of our pre match preparation.
