Slough v Folkestone match thread

Damn awful tonight. Nothing upfront until Millar came on after 87 minutes who looked lively on the right wing. The partnership of West and Seedel did not work and rarely looked like creating a scoring opportunity against a fellow struggling side.

The fans have turned on the manager and the team and the pressure is now on to start getting results.

I would too like to see Millar upfront with Hodges on saturday (if hes fit) and also a return for Parkin, after what I have been told about Masters being easily baited by the crowd and being the main reason for the last 2 goals.

Thanks for coming this evening. You got us on a very good night, probably our best performance of the season, and I guess you'll have played better yourselves - your players didn't seem to want it badly enough.

All the best for the rest of the season.

You damn right about our players not wanting it enough - they only seem to want it once in every four games.

Why the f did eddie wait till the 87th min to bring millar on.

Eddie is not up to making the big decisions under pressure - micky must have made them last season.

Time for Eddie to stand down or we are going down!!!

Dear Management & Players Of Slough Town,

Thanks for making me leave work early to travel 200 miles around to watch the biggest pile of drizzling sh1t I've seen in a good few years. And for the players, the next time you're not going to give a crap can you do it for someone else. This is going to be a hard enough season as it is without a bunch of players who quite clearly a) don't give a [****!!****] (erm all of you tonight) B) just ain't good enough (most of you tonight).

Thanks for [****!!****] nothing.

I generally try and remain positive but tonight was truly dreadful. So many things were wrong tonight.

How at this level can we be in a position where we have to field our assitant manager up front for the full 90 minutes, have players in the team woefully short on confidence and name a substitutes bench of which ONE is fit enough to play, and he was the f*****g goalkeeper? That's just not good enough.

Why can't we bring in some of the Capital League players to at least make the bloody numbers up? It's a joke that we can't even field 16 players. I don't necessarily agree with Gary that the fans turned on the manager tonight......I thought most did an admirable job, interspersed with a bit of gallows humour, to get behind the team longer than they probably deserved it.

This must be sorted out.......either we get a really decent coach to work alongside Eddie and/or we get some players who are good enough at this level. Too many on show tonight just aren't good enough.

I think this posting from a Folkestone fan on the Isthmian Fans site sums it up.

Quote:
Folkestone 3 0 Slough Town........& the prize for the worst visiting team this season goes to...Slough-who put this team together because they need to learn how to play football, awful side. Jimmy Dryden hat trick by the way, thanks for the Slough supporters for applauding him off..good support for a poor side

As said in a previous post Eddie needs to take some action and get rid of the players who have not performed and are not up to this level. We all know who they are. We need quality replacments soon as this can't continue and we can't rely on Wilko and Mets to come back and change everything.

A Folkestone view . We were so bad on Saturday that you felt the backlash of a few playing for a job. Slough palyed some prety stuff but lacked bite . Your keeper looked good on the reflex stuff and one save in the sceond half was class. This league is very even we should be about 10th . I have seen worse teams than Slough.

As for the fans best we a seen this year with out your suport your club will die. We will try to play as well at Winsor on Saturday.

thanks for so many coming on avey cold night

Cheers for that.

Awful Slough performance though. It was very sad to see Westy - the legend - play up front for the whole ninety minutes. When he returned to the club I thought he might play a few games for the ressies - which would be good - and maybe in a crisis have a few minutes of first team football. But asking him to lead the line for a whole game. Ridiculous.

I think Miller must have been carrying an injury - otherwise he had to come on sooner.

It was truly embarassing and it made me wonder why I worked through my lunch and rushed round like a lunatic to leave early enough to get there.
