No we have not. Last season was our first in the Ryman Premier after "promotion." If this were a Championship club going into the Premier League the pundits would be saying that they need to consolidate their position in the division before building and pushing on. Our main aim should be survival. We have nothing to build on until we sort out the off the field problems.

There's only a point in getting rid of "weak players" if we have the ability to bring in others to replace them. Just getting rid of players without bringing any in (decent or otherwise) would just accentuate last night's problem of having nobody fit to sit on the bench.

We know Eddie can make tough decisions......remember dropping Jake Whincup two days before the Walsall game and bringing in Shaun Allaway? What's that if not a brave decision? He also then dropped Allaway and played a 17 year old keeper in the Bryco Cup Final, again a decision it was probably easier to make the other way.

At the moment though he's totally restricted by the lack of funds to do anything. If he has no money to work with and cannot increase the quality or quantity of the squad, what do you propose he does? Yes, he's made some decisions regarding players and subs that we don't agree with but that will happen with any manager.

What would you do, Staines? You have the squad that Eddie has got and cannot increase it in numbers, and you cannot have any funds to increase it in quality. Tell me what you would do. Sack the manager and appoint another with the same restrictions? Would that really help?

I would have put Parkin on as an out field player last night to show that although options are limited, a fit player is better than a knackered out 39 year old who has run out of puff after 70 mins. Parkin is a commited player who has shown he wants to play and I belive his warming up was to show Eddie that he wanted to get on the pitch even if it was not in goal!

It may not have worked but 3 - 0 down he had nothing to lose and it would have shown that he was trying to change the game!

There are some in the ressies who should be give a chance as the current formular is not working - otherwise why have a reserve team?

Just on the reserves issue - it may be a case of dual registration. They are registered to play for us in the Capital League but are on Ryman Forms with someone else.

why? Sometimes it's a case of getting players in to have a look at them from other local clubs - as happened with the Masons and some others. Those 'worthy' of being signed on, will be.

From what I gather though, from the main reserves, Parkin was on the bench, Jonny Mason is out on loan, Lovegrove was on the bench, Shepherd is out on loan, Paget is out on loan, Braith is still suspended (I think) and I can only presume the others aren't signed on, or aren't available.

Given our current injury crisis any players on loan should be recalled as I understand was mousiniho yesterday.

Whilst I always try to refrain from open critisism of the players during the game, believing our support to be more productive I totally agree that last night was dire and something has got to give and pretty bloody soon.

I belive the players are trying their best under the circumstances, however how motivated would you be to play 100% if your team was in the bottom quarter of the league?

This is where strong management comes in and lifts the team.

The problem is that I have seen no sign of this during the game as Eddie adopts the "Steve Browne" crossed arm pose and players have to come across to him for instructions.

The likes of Borg and Devonshire are much more vocal than Denton and lift their teams as has been proved with the steady rise of H&R and Braintree - when was the last time the oposition supporters told Eddie to "sit down, shut up"?

I was under the impression that

a) Jonny Mason has left permanently for Flackwell as he wants first-team football;

B) Adam Paget has gone the same way, for the same reason, for the remainder of the season, to get match experience;

c) Sam Shepherd left permanently a couple of months ago.

In the case of the first two, I would imagine they were on expenses only and can only assume the management team are looking at bringing in more players for the same kind of money. Mason and Paget were becoming understandably frustrated at their lack of first-team action, and have agreed to join Flackwell. As in the past, I would assume there is some agreement to bring them back if need be - but if non-contract players want to leave, there's not an awful lot stopping them...
