Stand firm , stand together ! come on...12 months ago we were singing his praises..its not time to get cold feet with your manager that has given us so many good times..

As Warren Stated yesterday to me if we stay up that would be a good result...and I believe we can stay up ! with the same players and management and all pulling in the same direction we can acheive some more results against teams like Fisher again...

keep the faith...

up the rebels...

I have always been an Eddie supporter but could not undersatnd why there were no subs made at half time, or 50 mins, 0r 60, or 65, or 70, It was obvious at the break to all present who should come off and who should go on. I think Eddie has a hatred of using subs but last year our regular 11 were good enough that subs were not necessary. And i know he wasnt match fit, but Harris off???? Why???

Gary, if thats the case then why didn't he go off after an hour. He went off on 81 minutes (by my watch) now I'm sorry but that 9 minutes ain't gonna help him that much! Anyway, my main complaint yesterday wasn't so much to do with who was takne off but when. At 0-0 with 25 minutes to go, we should be thinking about substitutions. Josh Miller is the kind of player who can change a game when on form. Yet he wasn't introduced until the 90th minute, and then only because Hodgy got injured. I said it last season, that Eddie is a reactive rather than a proactive manager and my point was proved again yesterday. Why don't we try and make changes to win a game, rather than wait until we're behind and THEN make subs just to try and save it.

Whilst it would be giving the wrong message to ask Eddie to go at this stage after last season, it is legitimate to look at the performance of the two teams yesterday and ask some questions of the difference in coaching.

Walton were out early and went through a very thorough and professional warm up and started to look like a team before the match even started. They even looked like it was fun! Slough yet again, ambled out some ten minutes or so later, kicked a few lackadaisical balls around and then did some very half hearted warm up exercises fror about five minutes, before going to yet another kick around. Sorry, but they didn't look like a committed team. Have they been paid?

During the match, Walton got to the ball quickly, challenged very firmly and often won or blocked balls we should have passed or cleared easily. Generally, they looked like a team that wanted to win, whilst we looked like a team that just prayed we'd win.

Sorry, I know there were some good bits in the first half, but not taking your chances, (yet again) and then producing an inept and uncommitted performance like we saw in the second half is not good enough. Hoofing the ball hopefully up field doesn't win matches. Failing to find your men doesn't either.

Eddie, you need to get back to basics, old son, and if Westie is not the calibre of coach we need, then get one who is. That will be your mark as a manager. He has been a great player, but coaching and management is about developing commitment and motivation and we are not seeing it, so you both need to think about that. Tries hard but failed is OK for one match, but the last three home games????

We have enough problems off the pitch without creating them on and it is not just about budget. It is amazing what even ordinary people can do when led and motivated properly. Many of our players are better than current performances and deserve better from the management team.

So let's see something to make us cheer over the next few weeks, especially the game against Windsor.

Don't see an argument with the substitutions - it's chopper's first game in about 8 weeks and was probably shattered as other have said

As for Josh Millar has not even been on the bench or been around the last two week (presume an ilness) so your hardly likely to start him if he's not 100%?

Our other options were Lovegrove, West(39) and Parkin - hardly great is it when chasing a game?

Getting rid of Eddie Denton is hardly the answer for a club crying out for some stability.

But I too have concerns about Mark West as assistant manager. I feel we need someone with a lot more experience. Mickey Lewis was ideal, very tactically astute, and able to give the team a b*llocking when necessary. I don't think Eddie and Westy do that to the same degree, could be wrong though. As CK has intimated above, I do also feel that Lewis was responsible to a very large degree for our successes last season. That's not to say Eddie was ineffective, just that Lewis is more experienced and perhaps prepared and organised things better.

Mickey Lewis is hard to replace though - he had experience managing in the Football League after all - but I do feel we need someone different to be brought into the coaching team. It's all a matter of who's available though, and for what price.

Ask yourself Chris, if Steve Browne was in charge in this situation you would be calling for him to f*** off.

That's cr@p - we had a fantastic season last season and although it's not going well this season were not even half way through it! Browne achieved nothing at Slough with quality players. The season we got relegated with the squad we had we should have won the league IMO. Yet with less talented players (again in my opinion) Eddie and the backroom staff did great last year.

Short-term memories for a lot of people me thinks. Also with the amount of crap that goes on behind the scenes with this club normally I think were very lucky to have Eddie. Could have easily walked.

Quote:
Seedle should not have played today, we could see he was not performing why couldnot Eddie? and bringing on Mason for Harris was a joke. It's the sort of thing Browne would have done.

Who else then? Miller's been out two weeks and not 100% and Westy can't give more than 45 mins now... Our other striker's are?????

As for Chopper - again not match fit. We have a match MONDAY. Also is leigh mason a bad replacement - NO not really!!!

Oh and as for the Micky Lewis ran the team lovers - have a look at Micky's managerial record at Oxford City - sacked as manager there. Great/Outstanding coach, but not a manager.

the thing is, we knew that few could live up to lewis, so is anyone really surprised with what has happened? its the same with the players, we knew there was not the same talent at the start of this season so no one should be surprised when it doesnt go as well as last year

I don't think we need to, as I think when we get the experienced players back we are good enough to stay in this league - and that's what I think we will do.

I think the average age yesterday of the side must have been about 20, with Woody probably the most experienced at this level.

I do think a few of the squad members at the moment though are not good enough to play for STFC and are not up to this standard though, and I hope Eddie realises this and gets in replacements sooner rather than later.

I agree that a change needs to be made to the structure in the club. The partnership that has worked was Eddie and Mickey. Mickey was a great coach. Eddie had excellent contacts. Eddie was evidently a good manager as we had excellent results last year. If you blame him for the bad you must credit him for the good. However, the partnership between Eddie and Westy does not appear to be working.

Ian, it was me who said that if Eddie goes Westy will get the job and he will. We have a chairman with no football experience or contacts and we have bugger all money to attract anyone decent. Advertising for a new manager - "Top quality non-league manager required to return Slough Town to the Conference National. Must have 20 million quid to buy plot of land and build stadium and fund club for a couple of years".

We have chronic problems at Slough and whilst results are not going well losing Eddie now would be a disasterous step and would see us fade in to obscurity.

I think that very few of us had high expectations for this season. Survival at this level should be the realistic expectation. Things aren't going well but I totally agree with Martin, that things would only be made far worse at this moment if Eddie were to go. Irrespective of the recent results he has provided stability over the last few seasons and gave us a pretty good season last year. We do no doubt miss Mickey, as we are missing the experience of Wilko, Mets and Daly (yesterday anyway).

Totally agree staying up it was we should be aiming for, but its worrying that some of our losses have been against teams down there with us, i think if we fail to get 4 or more points against Winsdor we could be in serious trouble.

...and when a manager has an indifferent start to the season under a reduced budget losing his players you panic, overeact sack him despite the club needing stability and and him bringing general success to the club after a very poor spell under the previous manager?

Me thinks not...
