Slough Town v Walton & Hersham MATCH THREAD

I can vaguely remember the 2003/04 season we had just been beaten by windsor on boxing day and then a few days later we lost 3-1 to Walton & Hersham in what at the time was the worst Slough performance i had ever seen, it was actually Matt Miller`s last goal for slough i think! 90th minute consolation! but I can remember driving home thinking that`s it I will never watch Slough again! then i went to the next game against Dulwich I think, and we got a 90th minute penalty to earn a 1-1 draw and we then went on a long unbeaten run!! So I am hoping that history repeats itself starting with a victory at Folkestone! Clutching at straws maybe but at least its a positive!

I'll add my contribution in now, but nothing new really - Hodges should have scored a couple in the first half; we didn't play too badly at all really, especially considering a) recent results and B) we were without Daly; we were caught out by two quick goals, and when the second one went in, you felt like there was no way back.

Hodges, Alexis and McCleary did well I thought, and I hope the former is fit for tomorrow night. Seedel had a(nother) stinker and I just feel that he needs to get his old confidence back, and quickly. He's slow, and gets brushed off the ball far too easily for a big man (and a former Marine), and left me with a great deal of frustration when he was outdone when in good positions to cross. Is his fantastic hat-trick at the end of last season going to be his most memorable performance in a Slough shirt?

Overall I thought Walton did enough to get the win yesterday, and the team really have to think positively despite recent results. I think we're certainly 'getting there' but not getting rewards for it yet. Not happy with the 4-4-2 formation particularly, but that may just have been because Daly was unavailable.

I would have liked the Folkestone game to have been postponed to be honest, but it could work in our favour if the team can get the defeats out of their system quickly. It's another important one as Chris B mentioned before, as they're currently below us but with games in hand. Think I'd be relatively happy with a draw but we're more than capable of winning it, and Slough need to believe they can.

See you all tomorrow evening, assuming it'll go ahead.

Much better team first half and should have gone in two nil up. Whether we would have held on is debatable. Defending poor yet again which shows the performance at Fisher was a flash in the pan. We desperately need a run of back to back good results. No consistency which has been a Slough Town problem for all time.

I have tried to bear with Seedel as he has showed flashes of quality and I remember hearing from regulars at the reserves from when he first broke into the squad that he was a real prospect. But he is not strong enough, quick enough or good enough in the air for this level. Time to let someone else have a chance methinks.
