V Crawley

Just got back.

First half fantastic - second half what was going on? In the last three games had we been playing better opposition we would have got murdered. The first half was sweet and we could have finished the game off had all the chance gone our way. The second half Daish made 11 subs as we didn't look the same.

What was it down to? Charlie going off? Players accounting for others errors? We're clearly not a bad side as our first half perfromance proved, if we could play like that every week then we would make the play offs.

This season could well end up being an exact carbon copy of last, to good to go down but not good enough to go up.

One of the funny things from today though was Crawleys tannoy system. First off when they announced John Hollins as manager they played Blue is the colour, yet why was I the only one singing? There was a minute silence for George Best, Richard Burns, The Police office who got shot in Bradford last week, someone associated with the Southern League and some 13 year old that got run over outside a leisure centre. Anyone else you'd like to add to that list? Your next door neighbours cat perhaps? A random pegion? All very sad circumstances I'm sure but there is no need for it. Perfect example of the nanny state we live in, people die, deal with it.

Nice to see the Gills lost again today, looks like the honey moon period of having a new manager is finally over, I say finally it lasted one game. Dartford drew 0-0 with AFC Dons with only 1,082 in attendace so not the highest Stonebridge Road gate of the season gate of the season.

Didnt think we were that great 1st half - only Jukebox's curler inches past the post until we scored 2 almost out of the blue in 3 minutes. Then we suddenly found our feet for 15 minutes and we could have added 2 or 3 more.

Second half we fell apart and were lucky to escape with the 3 points. Only the 2 efforts referred to earlier in the thread all half.

They missed several gilt edged chances.

If we played Crawley every week you might be right Harry unfortunately there are teams in this league that are better than Crawley and us so don't expect anything better than ninth.

Redneck - "Moore was lightweight" - I think thats rather unfair as he never got the opportunity to prove himself other than chasing balls back into his own half - I dont recall one opportunity for him to receive the ball and run at the defence or get a shot on goal - and Charlie hadnt made much impression before he went off either, although I suspect he was feeling the knock he received fairly early on, for much of the half.

Its also fair to say that Coleman didnt make too much impact in the second half - without the supply, its difficult, if not impossible, for any forward to look good.

Defensively, I thought Ross did well again today - one tackle in the penalty area in the second half in particular, was exceptional - slightly mistimed and it was a penalty.

For all their possession, Crawley rarely actually looked capable of scoring and I can think of only 3 saves that Craig was forced into second half, and 1 in the first. And one of those saves in the second was from a wicked bounce of the ball when in most cases it would have bounced straight into his midrift.

Their fans aren't happy and think they will definitely be involved in a relegation battle - whilst they couldnt hit the target today to save their lives (thank goodness!), I really didnt think their general second half efforts were that poor - I'm sure sides like Tamworth,Southport and Forest Green to name but 3, would be weaker.

Thats a three match winning streak.

It would be nice if this match, and indeed all matches, could be unsegregated but unfortunately we all know that can’t happen.

There are some of our fans that don't realise that when we sing "we hate you" that we don't actually mean it. They take hate as meaning hate.

Take Canvey Island for example, now we sing (for some reason every single week) about how we hate Canvey they're inbreeds ect ect yet last season when I met their fans and this season in the Supporters match they were always very nice people.

Imagine if Gravesend v Canvey was unsegregated, there would be massacre; we would make Panathinaikos v Olympiakos look like a choir service.

Until society wash's it's self clean of this yobbish culture of if he's looking at me, talking about me or just because I can then I must kick his head in then segregation between two sets of society must remain. Two different sets of people that are not different for any other reason than the football teams they follow.

Anyone think their keeper should have been sent off for the foul on Coleman? I noticed the defender suddenly appear behind him waving his arms to indicate he was last man, though I'm sure he wasn't there when Coleman went down!!

Arguably, Coleman wasn't bearing down on goal as he was running diagonally, but most refs would've produced a red card in that situation... particularly if it had been Holloway or Kerr!!

Coleman would definately have scored so I thought it should have been red. But from what i saw Scott was also lucky not to see red after what looked like a two footed challenge on Whitman I think. On another day, 2 red cards, yesterday 2 yellows. I thought the ref actually handled the game quite well yesterday.

Strange - it didn't appear to matter to the 4098 that were in attendance those years ago when we actually had good reason to be rivals...

They're just another team in the Conference with whom we have a tiny bit of history. No more so than Aldershot, Dagenham, Grays, Crawley and Burton - all teams with whom we played against in recent years in lower leagues.

Not me but by using my powers I can probably work it out....let me see....Red Neck voted for Ross Smith (just to prove my powers are real, spooky eh?) so it must have been Mrs Gooding who voted for Scott. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />
