What was also lacking was a modicum of football intelligence.

 

On at least 2 occasions in the second half, as he tired, the number 6 adopted a quasi-sweeper role behind the back line. All this did is give the forwards space to push on without being off side. But did they push on - like f*** they did.

 

There was no fire and no passion in that side today. Now who everytime he put on a Town shirt provided fire and passion. Well his initials are BB. And some of the players in that side would have got a tongue lashing from him and needed it.

 

Berko had a plan two fast forwards and a strong, tall back line. It seemed that we had no plan. As I have said before at home we play against mass defences and two lightweight forwards are no match against that. Away from home it is a different story.

Nothing wrong with small light forwards if they are good enough and the tactics are a mite more sophisticated than the route 1 long ball game. The idea is to use skill and guile, speed and agility. The best way to beat a 6 foot-plus defender is not to put a 6 foot plus number 9 up against him, the odds are still in the defenders favour and it is boring! The best way is to use his size against him - play FOOTBALL on the ground, turn him inside out.

 

Who would you prefer, Peter Crouch or George Best?

 

As someone once said, there is no substitute for skill.

 

PS I agree about Brad though.

its was awfull i have never left a game before the final whistle but saturday was a joke. i mean why play the long ball when the defenders are 10ft nothing, there is no point. lets pray this does'nt happen again.

I expect you're the one with a cold after wearing that skirt on Saturday! Brave or foolish, it's a close call.

 

I echo the thoughts of others after Saturday's game. Must be the worst performance I have seen at Brimsdown. Things have to change and quickly. The long ball game is a joke with our front line. We have to keep the ball on the deck and make use of the flanks. At the moment we have plan A and if that doesn't work we stick with plan A. Please can we try something different?

The wind blew all afternoon and it rained most of the time too. You were bl**dy freezing you nutter!

Jim does read these forums so he does know what te supporters think.

he wasnt there tuesday cos his "flu" was really bad and mickey mouse and all that Jazz so maybe that had some part in it but who knows other than the big JC eh?!

the wind wasnt blowing when i first arrived. besides when i woke up i had the sun shining on my face (thats what woke me up!) so i decided it was a nice day, got dressed, went shopping and went to football.

wasnt cold!
