New ground for Slough?

Recommended Posts

Just read the Maidenhead Advertiser and it looks like Maidenhead are getting into serious financial trouble (possible media hype with this story)

It looks like any deals they have had in the pipeline to sell their ground have fizzled out and they are in over their heads due to players wages (wages alleged to be 250 per week per player)

With their small fan base it looks like they cant bring in the cash as they are currently set up.

Does this situation give us an opertunity to secure a ground or an alternative to the current Windsor deal?

I like York Road. Well, when I say I like it, there's always a good atmosphere there when we go, aided by two good covered ends. I'm probably in the minority however in thinking it's a possible alternative to Stag Meadow. I think we'd lose even more fans out of principle if we shared with Maidenhead.

York Road is a good ground to go to and I would be quite happy sharing there. However, the future of that site is up in the air and as we all know the pitch is generally in a terrible state. I have worked in Maidenhead for three years and everytime it rains - York Road floods. Fact.

o dear here we go again! lol

as nice as it would be to secure a move to york road - as it is closer to where i live lol, i dont believe that it would be a decent step in securing the clubs future in terms of fan numbers either

also i would personally put york road into a similar class of stadium as stag meadow, im sure a lot will disagree

Thought I would raise this as we need to look at all options with an open mind.

With Maidenhead next to bottom it is likely we will be playing them next season if they survive.

However as they own their own site, at least they have some assets - the risk being that they are gobbled up by a "Gladwish" which could offer them cash but potentialy no ground in the long term!

I always thought a superstore was planned for their site as they moved? Latest I heard was that housing was planned for York Road and they'd been given the thumbs up for a move to Braywick Park.

Either way, it will be great to be able to negociate a more affordable deal next season for a ground and hopefully, we'll be able to get some good news about (any) progress on a solution for ourselves.
