Yep sorry mate but I would like to know the official line pls.

It is now 18.20 ish and the Brum v Bolton game is in doubt due to fog.

There are 30,000 odd people waiting to see the game + millions on the box.

As a ref you can see both goals from the Centre Circle which I understand means the game should go ahead.

BUT .....

The crowd have paid mega bucks as they do in the Prem. and they can't see what is happening and the Sky money etc...

What do you do?

Just like to know the official line pls mate

cheers

Max - I thought that the referee also has to consider the crowd as well - might be wrong on this.

There is an obvious safety issue, in as much as the crowd could rush forward to get closer to the touchline, and then stand on someone else's seat, rather than on their own.

Don't forget he also has to be able to see both linesmen as well.

Before drawing a veil over this suject, there is also the matter of everyone getting home safely in the fog.

I went to a match at Yorkshire Amateurs once - the fog was so thick that you could not see your hand behind your back.

You could just about see past the six yard line from the nearest goal - twenty minutes into the match, there was a long pause when the ball was lost - it was eventually found in the visiting team's net, for what was the only goal of the match.
